This Small restaurant is a treasure with big flavour, it’s like stepping into Mexico. The margaritas are fire, and the food was packed with authentic Mexican flavours. We had the three taco special and if you bring your appetite, order the burrito! We ate on the quaint patio watching the world and the wild turkeys go by. Easily the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life. Welcome to Shanwigan Lake, where restaurants don’t need to try and are happy to eventually go out of business. No need for a scathing review, just avoid. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1 View all feedback.
This is about the worst Mexican food I've eaten, and I've eaten in many Mexican restaurants, including in Mexico. I got chicken quesadillas. The chicken inside was ok. They arrived on a paper in a plastic basket and were drenched in grease. The sour cream on the side was very watery. The salsa fresca was mostly just diced up flavorless tomatoes; very bland. Plus there was just a tiny cup of each, so not much to cut the greasiness. Waitress never came out to see if I wanted anything more. The horchata (rice drink) was also at least twice as watery as normal. Are they cutting costs by watering things down? The outside eating area could have been nice, but it is very neglected. The pots held mostly weeds and the seats and ground had lots of old dead leaves. It's summer now, not Fall, so those leaves have been there a while. The food was very slow in coming even though there was just one other table. (Folks at that table were also complaining of the long wait). The reggae music was nice (but a further indication this is not a real Mexican place). This place needs some serious attention from someone who cares.
Wow! Not a huge fan of Mexican but lived here for 12 years now and had to go because they are a local business and I was absolutely blown away! Such good food, great atmosphere and the people are just what you would expect in a community like this. I will of course keep going and will recommend to anyone who will listen
Very friendly, large portions and tasty! Highly recommended! Fresh ingredients used. Aztec soup and burritos very hearty. Vegetarian options also available.
Wow. I live an hour from the Mexican border in a Hispanic area of Southern California and would have never thought I'd have some of the best Mexican food in my life this far north. The pork was out of this world, best pork tacos I've ever had. Fish and shrimp tacos were good as well. This could be the best Mexican restaurant in Canada and it's just sitting out here in the middle of nowhere. Friendly staff too, appears to be family run. If you live in Victoria it's worth the drive to check this spot out
