Tucked beneath HopCat, TikiCat is a unique oasis in Kansas City, offering an unforgettable tiki bar experience. With cozy cabin seating, this intimate venue is perfect for small groups, but reservations are essential due to its limited space. Guests rave about the vibrant atmosphere, deliciously potent cocktails, and friendly staff, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or a romantic date. The creative drink menu, featuring both classic and signature cocktails, promises to impress. Embrace the laid-back vibe and savor a taste of the tropics without leaving the Midwest.

This is an outstanding tiki bar that could easily compete with the best in the country. The decor features an eclectic mix of vintage furniture for lounging, and the drink menu, created by Martin Cate, is fantastic. The interior, designed by Bamboo Ben, is inviting, complemented by a friendly and engaging staff. The soundtrack for your evening includes a nice blend of slow, moody exotic tunes, faster surf rock, and even some punk. For larger groups, there are cozy hut seating areas away from the bar. The space is somewhat limited, so I recommend making reservations on weekends, though you can take your chances for bar seating. Keep in mind that outside food is not permitted, so plan to dine either at HopCat or somewhere else before or after your visit—preferably before, as you might not want to leave once you start enjoying your first of many drinks!

Having lived in the Midwest my entire life, I was surprised to discover a tiki bar here. So when I found out that Hopcat has one, we decided to check it out and made a reservation through OpenTable with our group of friends. You might be wondering, what exactly is a tiki bar? It’s an exotic-themed drinking venue that serves elaborate cocktails, particularly rum-based drinks like the well-known mai tai and zombie cocktails. Tiki bars are characterized by their vibrant decor, which draws on a romanticized version of tropical cultures. They offer a variety of rum cocktails and even shareable bowls. I have to say, the drinks are quite strong! It's a wonderful place to relax, chat, and enjoy time with friends, as it feels like an escape from Kansas City. They sometimes accept walk-ins if it’s not too busy. The bar has its own restrooms, so you won’t need to go to the main Hopcat facilities. The staff are friendly, and we’re definitely planning to return next time!

Stepping through the secret door at TikiCat instantly sets the stage for a unique experience. If you’re searching for something beyond the usual bar scene, the atmosphere here is truly one-of-a-kind in Kansas City. The drinks were delightful and unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. I had the Don’s Own Grog, and I’m definitely planning to order it again on my next visit. While the prices are slightly higher than what I’m accustomed to, the quality makes it worth every penny!

Great place to relax and enjoy a cocktail. It's not your typical bar. This is a specialty bar, they have the best tiki cocktails a few beers and a top notch list of sipping rums. So If its a vodka soda you want this isn't the place to go. Very small intimate space, with small private huts for small groups. Make sure to make a reservation as they don't have very much space and book out weeks in advance. No windows, no TVs just floor to ceiling tiki attire. It's a 21 and over bar, they check IDs at the door. This is a place to bring a date, or a small group of friends for a unique and fun night.

The drink menu offers a variety of rum mixes, and they even have a shared bowl option for groups. I can tell you, the drinks pack a punch! It’s definitely a fun atmosphere, perfect for chilling out, chatting, and enjoying the experience with friends—it really feels like you’re transported somewhere far away from Kansas City. They do accept walk-ins when it’s not busy, which is a nice touch. Plus, they have their own restrooms, so you don’t have to use the main ones at HopCat. The staff is friendly, and we’re looking forward to returning next time!
