Nice hearty meal and of course great selection of seafood including king crab. If you're getting picked up by Uber or a tour company make sure to wait out front which is by the highway. View all feedback.
What alienvegan doesn't like about Mermaid Grotto Cafe And Boutique:
The main options are: avocado toast, bread with mosquito mama dip (this is more of an appetizer), and the hurricane bowl can be veganized if you ask for no kimchi. The hurricane bowl seems like the main option that is a full meal. This restaurant also has non dairy milk options. This is a restaurant upstairs and more of a coffee shop with grab and go coffee downstairs. Atmosphere is nice but service is not very frien... View all feedback.
We had seen some reviews of The Mermaid Grotto but when we first looked at the building we thought it had been closed for months. The next day with further investigation we found it was indeed open. We were quite surprised with excellent service and food. Had a touch of the local hangout vibe. I can’t quite remember what we had to eat but I do remember there were four of us and we were each pleased with our meal.
What a cool ocean-themed bar!! Shawn was a fun bartender with lots of knowledge about the area. Great view of the marina/mountains from big 2nd floor windows. Prices were very reasonable everything was quality. I'll def go back when I'm in Seward
Best dinner we had in Seward! Actually, best meal we had while in Alaska! My husband had the sablefish! Divine! I had the strawberry/ spinach salad topped with fresh sockeye salmon. It was delectably delicious! We ate upstairs after a long, arduous hike and the atmosphere and service were perfect. We were somewhat muddy and wet and we were welcomed without issue. Our efficient and friendly server suggested “Arnold Palmer on the beach” as our dessert and it did not disappoint. White chocolate sea shell with “pearl” cake balls, tea infused sponge cake with toasted meringue and lemon curd. Bought a wonderful muffin to have for breakfast the next morning. Owner was personable and congenial. We’ll worth a meal or two there.
Had a decent dinner here. It doesn’t look like it would serve dinner so it wasn’t crowded but the food was good and they served it very fast!
Don't go!.… Waste of time and money. Walk in thinking you will get a treat only to be extremely disappointed. Arrived at noon on a Monday and they where already out of sourdough bowls and chowder. The baguette we got were pathetic and over priced and not accurately represented. Drinks were NOT drinkable. Very cute and extremely disappointing.
