Wherewww. We were in town and went twice because it was so good. They order at the front window and there are some open seats around the back. Sorry it's closed! We walked from the Gateway Hotel and found the rail cars where The Smoke Shack used to be. Talked to a cool guy in a rail car espresso shop who filled us in. He recommended the Porthole food truck and Mermaid Grotto. We chose Mermaid Grotto since we wanted to sit down and be served. Cool place! Amazing view and house made biscuits. View all feedback.

Amazing staff, wonderful food, a little train car with a cool atmosphere. Spicy pulled pork sandwich was great. Will eat here on My annual fishing trips.

I only ate a Railcar Burger and it was certainly good. Really good. Service was excellent. I'd definitely eat again here.

Great place to eat. Although small (8 tables) and usually a waiting period, it is worth it. The atmosphere is unique (the restaurant is in an old Alaska Railroad car), and the food is good.

Home Run!. Seriously picky foodie blown away by the spicy pulled pork sandwich. We went at noon hoping for breakfast, but SO glad we had to opt for lunch. The food is the best barbeque I've had in Alaska, hands down. Only wished I didn't live two hours away. The Smoked burger with bacon? I would drive down and wait for hours just to eat it! Can't wait to go back!
