We’d been to Chartwell with our dog all morning and fancied some lunch. Pleasant looking roadside pub. Fair sized area to one side with bench tables. Just a couple of cars in car park at about 1pm. I went in to see if they we serving food on a weekday lunchtime and the barman said yes and when I asked to see the menu he found me a copy. A great place to drink excellent beers! The place is really typical! On the other hand, in terms of food... I think it's like food in general in the United Kingdom... really not great! But OK ! We go to a pub to drink liters of beers first of all!
The restaurant was quiet for a Saturday lunchtime, but the manager was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a delicious meal, although I was unable to have my usual end of meal coffee as the machine was broken. Despite this minor inconvenience, I still rate the experience 5 stars for the excellent service and food. I look forward to dining here again soon.
