It used to be located in the basement of the Catholic church, but has now moved to Community House Masil across from the nearby YMCA. In addition to local vegetarian restaurants, there are expats selling homemade spaghetti sauce, hummus, and other goods. The market is a great opportunity to support independent food producers and artisans. I had a lot of fun talking to vendors about their products. One thing to keep in mind is that many people bring their own plates and utensils to reduce waste. Luckily, I met a friend who had extras so I could enjoy the food. I recommend bringing your own containers and shopping bags if you plan on purchasing ready-made foods. The market also takes place in Hyehwa, with at least one event per month in either Myeongdong or Hyehwa. I visited a restaurant in Myeongdong that was located in the basement of the Catholic Church in the area. It seems to have recently moved to a communal house called Masil, across from the church near YMCA. The restaurant also featured expats selling homemade spaghetti sauce, hummus, and other products. It was a great opportunity to discover local vegetarian restaurants, independent food producers, and craftsmen selling their goods. I enjoyed talking to some of the vendors about their products. One thing I noticed at the farmers' market was that many people brought their own dining plates and utensils, possibly to reduce waste. Luckily, a friend had extra supplies so I could enjoy the food there. I think bringing your own items is a good idea. I recommend bringing containers and shopping bags if you plan to purchase items. Another location for a similar market is in Hyehwa. There is at least one market per month in either Myeondong or Hyehwa. You can see pictures on the organizer's Instagram @marchefriends and check their website (available in Korean only) for schedules and participants.
I recently visited a market held in Myeongdong, which used to be located in the cellar of the Catholic church across the street. It appears that it has since been moved to the communal house Masil near the YMCA. Some of the vendors at the market were expats selling their homemade spaghetti sauce, hummus, and other items. It was a great opportunity to discover local vegetarian restaurants, independent food producers, and artisans selling their goods. I had some interesting conversations with vendors about their products and it was enjoyable to see so many people bringing their own food and utensils to reduce waste. On the day I visited, a friend brought extra food so we were able to enjoy a meal together. I recommend bringing your own containers and shopping bags if you plan on buying prepared food. Another location for the market is in Hyehwa, and there is at least one farmers' market held monthly in either Myeondong or Hyehwa. For more information, you can check out the organizer's Instagram @marchefriends and their website (which is in Korean) for schedules and participating vendors.
