The rooms are excellent and well set up, not to mention the welcome beer/prosecco! Totally dog friendly. We were a party of five in three rooms and one member was late arriving. The pub stops restaurant service at on Sunday (ouch) but were happy to make something up for her later. Its a popular place so gets very busy. The food menu was a bit limited and they had run out of the roasts option (see busy but was well pres... View all feedback.
What Miranda K doesn't like about The Swan Inn:
Disappointing and poor value for money. Dishes were small and not particularly impressive. I was expecting something much better from this popular pub. We spent £50 for lunch and it was not that amazing. Part of the Butcombe chain, the Ring O' Bells was far better value for money and service was much friendlier and more welcoming. We sat outside with the dogs which was nice though... View all feedback.
It’s been a while since we last visited The Swan yrs), since then it has become part of the local Butcombe Brewery chain. Having a birthday to celebrate we were struggling to find anything open on a Monday so ventured a little further out. Lovely old building In a tranquil setting popular with walkers. The pub also has B B rooms recently reviewed in The Mail online Travel section. We were greeted by a friendly lady who showed us to the reserved table. A simple menu for lunch service but something for everyone. Of course there is Butcombe on pump but also a good choice of wines, some a little pricey by the large glass , table service is in operation. We had fish and chips and Steak and Ale pie, which was a quality individual pie, it came with a pot of gravy . Everything was eaten and the portions were a good size, we had to wait about mins but that didn’t matter at all. There was no room for dessert. The bill does include service charge, it’s on the menu and it was mentioned before being added , with your agreement. The service was efficient and friendly so I didn’t mind (as long as it does go to the staff). It was a very pleasant lunch. In these current times you need to be understanding and patient , everyone did a good job and our lunch was very good.

We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, but may be not the quickest (again see busy!)There are a number of good walks to let the dogs ease springs but best on a trail lead.Breakfast was even better than dinner with an excellent choice and large portions.Would happily stay again.

Amazing pub, beautiful and comfortable rooms, excellent food both breakfast and dinner. Roast beef was delicious and the best we’ve had in a long time. This will be our go to when flying out of Bristol airport.
We went for a walk and popped in for drinks, we paid at the meter and still got a parking ticket, we had been warned about this by our village email system but felt sure if we bought a ticket as well as using the pub we would be OK, I have been coming to the Swan for years, I will not be coming back, there are plenty of other nice pubs around without incompetent parking companies managing their car parks!!
