Grateful Bread - Seattle
Grateful Bread
Description
Grateful Bread Bakery stands out in Seattle's competitive culinary scene, blending charm and community feel with a selection that pleases both vegans and non-vegans. While it lacks an extensive array of vegan options, customers rave about the exceptional vegan chocolate chip cookies and fresh bagels. The atmosphere is welcoming, characterized by friendly staff, though service can be slow during busy times. Patrons enjoy a variety of baked goods and hearty dishes, making it an ideal stop for coffee and a quick bite. Parking can be tricky, but many agree the quality of food makes it worth the visit.

Stopped in here for a bagel — which is hard to find in seattle. anyway, much better bagels than blazing bagels which gets all the hype. the service was friendly and fast, there is currently no inside seating (which is fine), but the baked goods all looked pretty tasty to go. coffee is caffe vita, not great but OK. i had the sesame bagel with cream cheese and the thing was beautiful (see photo). i’m not a huge dead head, but i appreciate the pun and would probably go back here. very accessible (with parking) and unpretentious.
Grateful Bread is definitely a place with its own character and charm. Old school and even a bit funky decor, neighborhood atmosphere, friendly service. The food offering is wide and various. They have everything from bread to bagels to cookies and pastries, of which I only had the butter croissant. It's on the flaky side and I really like its salty (rather than sweet) flavor. On the other hand, the layers are thicker than usual and overall it needs a little bit more air.
Amazing local bakery. Great coffee, friendly service, and of course the yummiest bakery in NE Seattle. Call the day ahead or early morning if you want challah. Their soups and quiches make super yummy lunch too. The veggie quiche is my favorite. Enjoy!
The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is fantastic. During our last visit with a group of five, everyone was delighted with their meals. Although they don't offer coconut milk for lattes and mochas, they do provide almond, soy, and oat milk as alternatives. We went in February 2022 when indoor dining wasn't permitted, but there were a few tables on their covered patio. Their menu is quite extensive for a bakery, featuring soups, salads, paninis, sandwiches, bagels, and pastries.
We visited on a Saturday morning, so it was naturally bustling. However, the line was well-organized and moved swiftly. We grabbed a few pastries, a bagel, and some coffee. Everything was incredibly tasty. The ham and cheddar croissant was outstanding, and the butter croissant was just as stunning as it was flavorful. We'll definitely return before our trip ends!
