Reviews - Spinasse
Reviews summary
Spinasse is a restaurant that offers a unique dining experience focused on Piedmonte style Italian food. The entrance and check-in process may be a bit crowded and unpleasant, but once seated, the friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff provide good service. The dishes, while on the expensive side, offer a tasty dining experience. However, the atmosphere can be loud and the table setup might not be the most comfortable. The food and service are overall very good, but there may be better options for a celebratory meal in Seattle. The restaurant offers a romantic vibe and excellent service, with standout dishes like the CIPOLLINI RIPIENI appetizer. The pasta dishes are decent, but not exceptional, and some dishes may be too rich or salty. The cozy space, warm energy, and delicious food make it a great choice for a local dining experience. It's a must-visit in Seattle, with exceptional dishes like the Tajarin and beef cheeks. The butter and sage pasta is a standout, and the service is top-notch. Overall, Spinasse offers a unique dining experience with delicious food and excellent service, making it a great choice for Italian cuisine in Seattle.
Was Walter Holzapfel at Spinasse a mag?
Excellent ambiance and very good service, but surprisingly disappointing food. The signature pasta with butter and sage was more of an excessively-rich, congealed glob, the gnocchi with braised goat was very good but way too salty, and the sautéed kale oddly tough. Chicory salad, house-made breads, and desserts were great. I've enjoyed Spinasse several times before, so this was disappointing. View all feedback.
What Nick dislikes about Spinasse:
As someone with heritage in northern Italy, I was disappointed. I found the food to be rather bland, aside from the goat gnocchi. The desserts were rather sweet, as well. That might be okay with some palettes, but I wasn’t sold. I was drawn to this restaurant because of the cuisine (which is rather hard to find) and the extensive wine list consisting of a plentiful amount of Barolo’s. The wine list certainly delivere... Food was not what I expected, it was even better. Highly recommend to visit this place. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Been coming to Spinasse for over 15 years. Yes, still fantastic in all the ways I described it years ago. Same food, atmosphere and location. Even the prices seem to not be out of sight and the atmosphere and food are fantastic. That said, I don 't like setting in the area by the door and always request to be seated in the original restrauant space to the left of the entrance for a more subdued and romantic atmosphere. Tempted to eat everything on the menu for the $120/person, but we at just about everything we liked and was absolutely stuffed. For the first time patrons you must eat a half portion of the Tajarin Con Burro E Salvia and the Tajarin Al Ragu. As in Top Gun don 't think just do. The waiter, Brent picked out a wine and it was fantastic as I posted a photo for that bottle of Barbra D 'Asti DOCG Superiore Ca 'DiPian 2023. Parking just beside the resturant for $4/hr. They reserve the counter for walk-ins, but I would make a reservation and request to be seated in the original resturant space away from the front door reception area. The duck confit filled filo dough, the butter sage pasta and the ragu pasta, and the pan roasted rib eye. Panna cotta for dessert. It was perfection. Loved the whole experience!
The wine list certainly delivered. What made our experience top notch was our waitress Aiden T. She was knowledgable, accommodating, and wonderful to talk to. I would return for her. I work in hospitality and I always say service can make or break a meal, and she is the reason I would recommend this restaurant.
Really enjoyed our first visit to Spinasse! The service was lovely, without being obtrusive at all. Our server 's recommendations for how much food is good for two were spot on and. very much appreciated, and Spinasse makes it easy to try a variety of their dishes in a fun and satisfying (and not wasteful/too much food) sort of way. The restaurant was lively but not so loud that we couldn 't enjoy our date night and the food was excellent. We tried the prosciutto, burro e salvia, ragu, broccoli with bagna cauda, and a fantastic chocolate hazelnut cake everything was delicious but my favorites were the burro e salvia and that bagna cauda!
I waited two months to get in and it exceeded expectations in every way. Service, ambience, I tried three different dishes--four if you count dessert. All 5/5. I'll be back for sure.

Food was good but the portions were small and the prices were high. The wine list was really difficult to comprehend. Maybe I'm just too simple. Go there to impress a size 2 date. Parking: Parked on the street within a couple of blocks. The parking garage next door was full.
I was introduced to Spinasse and the wonderful butter and sage pasta over 6 years ago. I’ve been craving that dish since then. When I visited Seattle again I knew I had to go back. I got a reservation a couple of weeks in advance and they only had 9 PM available. Even though I just came for the pasta, everything was delectable from the bread to the zucchini and corn and basil fritters. The food came out very timely and the service was outstanding. This is a great date spot. I will forever recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in Seattle. Vegetarian options: Must get the butter and sage pasta!
This was our second time and hope to visit again when we come to Seattle again. We have tried many different places in Seattle but Spinasse is one of the best with a sophisticated but simple menu and a very vell kept wine list from Italy. The whole experience worth the time and money spent! Thank you, once again.
Honestly the best pasta I’ve had in Seattle! But what really impressed me was the risotto. You have to get it!!
One of our top five in Seattle. Delicious, great service, warm ambiance. Rather expensive, but worth it. Signature dish is Tajarin, fresh pasta with butter and sage, of course we always order it. But on our last visit it was over-dressed, a bit of a butter bomb, someone forgot that less is more. Tajarin ragu was top notch, as were the corn and basil fritters. Wine list is deep, many options, Seghesio nebbiolo from Piedmonte pairs perfectly.

The butter pasta with sage is a must-try dish. It is incredibly delicious. It's so good that we seldom have the chance to try anything else.
The food was good but the risotto was not my favorite the flavor was a little sour and the rice wasn’t too my liking. But the drinks were great and their main pasta dish was delicious.
This is some of the best refined Italian food I have ever eaten. Always delicious. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great wine selection. Sage pasta is outstanding.
Amazing butter and sage pasta; small but cozy space; amazing service in a great neighborhood. We fell in love with this restaurant when we regularly visited Seattle 13 years ago and came back with our son who is now 10 years old and, just like us he now talks about Spinasse as one of his best meals ever.

Terrific food, the pasta was great. The service was terrific, and so were the drinks.
I ordered takeout from Spinasse but have dined in restaurant as well. My favorite dishes include the tajarin al ragu, prosciutto and the meatballs. The only part missed in the takeout experience is the wonderful staff who make you feel like it’s your neighborhood spot and the wine list!
The place are clean drinks, food and staff are great, I am pleasant to visit here.
My husband and I took a friend to this restaurant for dinner. It was our 2nd time this year. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the service could not have been better with just the right amount of interaction with our server, which contributed to the evening. I do take my wine, but their wine list was excellent! We will be coming back!
