Retro Coffee - Seattle
Retro Coffee
Description
Tucked in a downtown office corner, Retro Coffee serves consistently excellent espresso—standouts include cortados, cappuccinos and a balanced iced latte—paired with freshly baked pastries and inventive touches like vanilla‑infused foam and non‑dairy milk. High ceilings, contemporary art and a nearby rotunda create a bright, relaxed setting for mornings, work or a Sunday stroll. Staff are generally friendly and attentive, though service can be uneven at times and roast variety is limited; still, it’s a convenient, flavorful stop for locals and visitors alike.

I noticed the impressive star rating and decided to stop by for a cappuccino. The servers were prompt and courteous, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and location. While I personally prefer a slightly lighter roast for the more concentrated espresso drinks, I still found the flavor enjoyable. However, I did encounter a bit of confusion when I requested the milk to be steamed to 60 degrees Celsius. I recognize that "modern coffee" often deviates from traditional practices, but I believe it's worth investing some time to train your new staff on the fundamentals of properly steaming milk. By doing so and offering a selection of 2-3 roast levels for your beans, I think you could easily elevate your establishment to a solid 5-star rating.
This quaint coffee shop is situated at the corner of a downtown office building. The coffee and service were decent, but the highlight was definitely the office lobby next door. It features a stunning rotunda with tall ceilings and large glass windows, furnished with cozy couches and seating. I'm not certain if the lobby is typically open to the public, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there with a cup of coffee on a Wednesday afternoon.
Really, really good coffee. Definitely recommend the lavender chai. I appreciated the wide selection of non-dairy milk.
The coffee here is exceptional, and the baristas are both skilled and welcoming. It was so delightful that we ended up visiting twice during our weekend trip.
This is a lovely coffee shop to savor a weekend morning coffee. Our drinks were fantastic, the staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere in the dining area was quite pleasant. I found it interesting to see the updated Seattle flag displayed on the wall—while it's an improvement over the original Seattle flag, it's still not very attractive.
