Luckily we were able to sn... read more We walked to Macrina Bakery Cafe on a Friday morning. By 10am the inside was already packed with few seats available outside as well. Luckily we were able to snag a table outside right as another party was leaving. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the pastries before eating them. We ordered a cold brew, cappuccino, raspberry lemon cake, ginger cookie, upside apple cardamom cake, and chocolate orange coffee cake. The coffees were pretty good. I'm not a coffee snob or connoisseur by any means but I thought the cappuccino was tasty. The apple cardamom cake was decent but slightly dry. I'm not the biggest fan of cardamom, but could appreciate the flavor combination. The ginger cookie was easily the best pastry we ordered and had an amazingly satisfying chewy texture. The raspberry lemon cake had good flavor but was a little dry. The chocolate orange coffee cake was also a little dry, but was really good when you were able to get a bite with lots of chocolate chips in it. Overall, I was satisfied with my visit to Macrina Bakery Cafe. It is located in Capitol Hill in an extremely cute area, which makes it a great neighborhood coffee spot. I would love to visit again to try out their other pastries, and could see this place becoming a regular spot if I lived nearby.

We recently visited the second location in East Capitol Hill, and it was just as wonderful as the other Macrina Bakery in the Upper Queen Anne District. The staff was very helpful, providing detailed information about the vegan and non-vegan bread options. There was a wide selection of vegan breads to choose from. In terms of desserts, during our visit in May 2021, there were only two vegan options available. This time, we tried the double chocolate vegan cookie and it was delicious - rich chocolate flavor, crispy texture, and chocolate chips throughout. The vegan desserts were clearly labeled with small signs. Outdoor seating was available with tables surrounding the parking lot and a nearby shop, as well as one table near the entrance.

The prices are a bit high, around $5-6 per item, but the quality is definitely worth it. We visited on a Sunday morning and it was busy, but we were able to order, pay, and receive our food within 10 minutes. The service and cleanliness were outstanding. Overall, a great experience!
