Reviews summary

Haymaker has garnered mixed reviews, with diners praising some dishes while expressing disappointment in service and overall experience. While select entrees like black cod and pork shine, reports of small portions and bland flavors for the price are frequent. Service inconsistencies, such as lengthy waits for drinks and a rushed dining experience, have left guests feeling undervalued. However, the restaurant does receive commendations for its creative cocktails and vibrant atmosphere. Overall, while some guests had delightful meals, others felt that Haymaker fell short of expectations, making repeat visits uncertain for many.

Just another example of poor management that is plaguing this group of restaurants (Vendemia,, Haymaker 1, and now Haymaker 2) On this occasion, the place was totally under staffed and the staff they had were not well trained. WE sat for 30 minutes before getting water. Another 10min before ordering. Wine arrived promptly but Another 25 minutes went by before the first course. Rather than having their full menu, they pulled some lame excuse to have a pre-set 2 course menu. It was economical but the food itself underwhelming. Something you could do at home. Most of the food was luke warm to tepid.

What a rousing disappointment. Something must have changed from the positive reviews I read. Steak was raw, massively mediocre and expensive and the outrageously priced pasta was so salty as to be inedible. And it lacked any other flavor on top of that. Awful dessert. Mediocre drinks, mediocre burrata and the service was barely existent save your money. It was genuinely uncomfortable to know how to reply when asked how it was “tasting” 15 min in. the food was so bad that it was impossible to know what to say or where to start. There are great restaurants in Seattle. This resembles those in price only.

The scallops were the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. They were cold and zero flavor, it was truly painful to eat but I was hungry. The service is so incredibly slow and everyone in our 7 person party was not a fan of their meal. The drinks are good, I’ll give them that.

The food was great and our server was very friendly and made excellent recommendations of pairings. I highly recommend all to eat there.

First visit. Sorry now we didn’t make it sooner! Ordered the fried chicken sliders, Paccheri (pasta bolognese) and the hamburger. The pasta dish was good but the sauce wasn’t to my taste. It tasted kind of winey maybe. It’s a small amount of pasta for the price. The hamburger was superb, if a little bit overcooked and also a bit high in price. That onion jam on it is great and the house cut fries you won’t want to stop eating. The fried chicken sliders (3) were just fantastic and reason alone to return. Service was wonderful.

My review is from the perspective of a vegetarian, so others could probably ignore. There aren’t many vegetarian options on the menu and I had most of them. The eggplant and heirloom tomato appetizers are fantastic, and the only reason I am giving 3stars instead of just 1 or 2. They clearly know how to prepare vegetables and it would be great if they had other dishes thatplaced them at the center. I get that it’s a nice restaurant but charging $8 for 4 slices of bread seems steep. The fusilli isthe only vegetarian entree, and the pasta itself was good and it had nice fresh and flavorful vegetables in it but it wasdampened by a too-rich butter sauce.

Met by the Chef, sat in the bar. Ordered fish and chips and the best Arugula salad. Food was great. Customer service was excellent. Atmosphere was inviting, a charm of it’s own. Love that the Chefs are cooking right there in front of you. Veryprofessional yet relaxing experience.

For group of 6+, tasting menu is the only option. I liked the mains better than appetizers. steak, tuna, and pasta are all good. The ice cream was very creamy but no a fan of mixing it with olive oil tho.

Had a great Father's Day brunch here with some tasty dishes! Steak and Eggs, Croque Madam, Carbonara, and Pancakes! The biscuits were also delicious!

This restaurant is amazing! The food is so delicious and the staff is so great! It is definitely one of the best restaurants in Seattle! The black cod, New York strip with bone marrow demi glace, asparagus, lamb, and Dungeness crab roll were off thecharts! It was great talking to each staff member, each of them were super knowledgeable and nice. It was my birthday and theybrought a dessert to share that was unbelievable. I don't know exactly what was in it but I think it was lemon sorbet with afloral raspberry compote and savory crumbles. It is definitely worth every penny. If you haven't been here, GO!!!

Service was terrible. Even worse was the time of meal. The ducks came out ridiculously fast. Overall, the meal did not serve any sense and was very disappointing. So much that I probably never go back.

This restaurant is a fantastic spot for tasty and creative dishes. I recommend trying a variety of appetizers, sharing some pasta dishes and desserts, and selecting your preferred protein option for a well-rounded meal.

Not sure if it was an off night but wow, worst dining experience in a very long time. Wine selection, great. Then it all went downhill. Ordered apps but they took more than 30 minutes to come out. The waiter kept asking for main course order and we’re like can we wait until we get apps. Finally caved and put in order when we said apps coming soon, they didn’t. Our apps were oysters and charcuterie board, not a huge lift to prepare. Then the pasta was undercooked, and I like Al denti, and watery sauce for the rigatoni. So odd-hoping for an off night cause I’m looking forward to the gh pasta opening on 35th. Other disappointments occurred, but that’s the overall summary-timing and food lacking.

We are regulars at this restaurant but we would like to see some changes in the menu, specifically adding more seafood options. After all, this is Seattle!

We came here for Valentine’s Day last year as well, had a fantastic time, and expected a similar experience this year. While the food was good, we were underwhelmed by the experience and we felt very rushed. Last year the first course dishes came out one at a time and we really got to savor and enjoy each course. This year they’d brought out our entrees before we’d even finished our first glass of wine (we paid for the wine pairing too). The whole experience took about an hour, and couples who were seated before us were still on their entrees when we left. I’m not sure why we in particular seemed to be moved along more quickly, but it was a disappointment after a lovely experience last year. We probably will not come back here again next year for Valentines, but would still return for regular date night.
