Feedback
First time diners at Haymaker. The black cod and pork entrees were wonderfully conceived and executed. The focaccia was light, slightly salty and delicious with the bright olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce. Wait staff were attentive without being obsequious. The room became a bit noisy as more dinners arrived, which hastened our departure. High marks over all. We will recommend Haymaker and look forward to returning for another meal.
FOOOD WAS FANTASTIC. but what made it the best was our server Jules!!!! So awesome and I appreciated the effort she put in
We showed up early, and couldn’t be seated. No problem. We came back at our reservation time and the door was locked. We entered as others exited and we inquired about our reservation we were told it would be about an hour. When we reiterated we had a reservation we were seated. It was a really awkward and uncomfortable exchange with someone presumably the manager. Before dinner we were presented a complimentary appetizer as a means of apologizing for the odd interaction earlier. Ok, well played. Food was disappointing. Steak was a terrible cut and was served cold. It is served with butter that didn’t melt and a bearnaise that was pasty. We were offered an additional complimentary glass of wine. Thank you, but the overall experience was disappointing. Sadly, our last experience was similar. I want to like this place, but they’ve lost me.
Just another example of poor management that is plaguing this group of restaurants (Vendemia,, Haymaker 1, and now Haymaker 2) On this occasion, the place was totally under staffed and the staff they had were not well trained. WE sat for 30 minutes before getting water. Another 10min before ordering. Wine arrived promptly but Another 25 minutes went by before the first course. Rather than having their full menu, they pulled some lame excuse to have a pre-set 2 course menu. It was economical but the food itself underwhelming. Something you could do at home. Most of the food was luke warm to tepid.
What a rousing disappointment. Something must have changed from the positive reviews I read. Steak was raw, massively mediocre and expensive and the outrageously priced pasta was so salty as to be inedible. And it lacked any other flavor on top of that. Awful dessert. Mediocre drinks, mediocre burrata and the service was barely existent save your money. It was genuinely uncomfortable to know how to reply when asked how it was “tasting” 15 min in. the food was so bad that it was impossible to know what to say or where to start. There are great restaurants in Seattle. This resembles those in price only.
