Part of the Kimpton Hotel the Bookstore Bar Cafe on 1st is a relaxing place away from busy 1st Avenue. What Anonym dislikes about Bookstore Café:
When open it's good but inconsistant hours. Stopped by twice while staying here and they were closing 20 minutes early. Understand last call but if you're staying at the hotel and they advertise opening hours they should be honored. Service: 5 View all feedback.
The drinks were delicious, and the bartender provided excellent service. It's conveniently located right across from our hotel and offers a much better atmosphere than the hotel's bar. We'll definitely be back!
It's truly disheartening when a restaurant's poor service overshadows everything else, but that was my experience at the Bookstore. I visited twice during my stay at the Alexis, and both times, the service was extremely disappointing. On my first visit, my order was incorrect. The second time, I waited so long to have my order taken that the kitchen closed. The server and bartender, Sergio, only eventually came over because other guests, who had been waiting even longer, had to contact the front desk to locate him. While the ambiance was pleasant, it simply couldn't make up for the frustration I experienced.

They automatically add 5% gratuity, which I am completely fine with. I just thought the explanation on the receipt was a somewhat laughable, To support our house staff with the minimum wage law. So basically the restaurant does not find supporting their staff and the minimum wage law important enough to use their own money or to provide a suitable wage, instead they are going to force their customers to do it for them? I just thought that was a weird way to word it. They should just add gratuity if they are trying to make up for paying low wages and leave it at that. The service was really good. The wonderful ladies working the bar did excellent. The food was pretty good, nothing great. Not sure I would go out of my way to eat there again. I read similar reviews on the food, but tried it out of convenience while staying at the hoel. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

The Kimpton Alexis looks a delightful place to stay and this part of it we will definitely return to as Seattle residents.
