What 57heathern doesn't like about The Croft:
Went for evening meal. Only us in dining Room no atmosphere. But looks good. Menu pretty varied typical pub food. Mushrooms bit too crunchy as starter. Scampi and chips ok. Macaroni very bland. Service ok but had to ask for cutlery etc. Nothing special just ok. View all feedback.
We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant. We want to thank Karen for providing excellent service and making our birthday lunch special. The staff took great care of us and even had a fun animal science show for the kids. The team was fantastic and the show was amazing. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for going above and beyond to ensure we had a relaxing and happy time.
We didn’t stay at Scoutscroft but we ate here most nights of our holiday. We found the food really good, well presented and cooked and really good value for money. The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again if we are back in the area.

Like many other reviewers, I sympathize with the staff as Verdant Leisure has taken over and the quality of everything, including the food, has significantly declined. The once friendly restaurant with great service and affordable, tasty dishes has suddenly turned into a disappointment. The menu now resembles something you would find in a supermarket packet, which explains why the place was deserted with only my husband and I dining there. The food was subpar, my husband's fried egg was overcooked and rubbery. It would have been better to just grab a curry takeaway from the nearby Morrison's. Unfortunately, even the local Fish and Chip shop has been forced to leave due to Verdant Leisure taking over. It's a shame for the residents of St Abbs.
So looking forward to a Sunday dinner at the Croft Restaurant to discover No carvery! This was due to low numbers and completely understandable. However, at the same price of £8.95, we decided to stay for the Sunday Meal, advertised as Roast beef and seasonal vegetable with roast potatoes... a somewhat reduced plate of a Sunday dinner arrived and disappointed before trying. Beef and the limited carrots were very good, but how can you go wrong with carrots. Burnt Yorkshires not 1 but all, brussel sprouts (that were a vast majority of the veg) were soggy and certainly not seasonal, a small spoonful of peas and green beans with the stalks still on..Hence the disappointment.. The staff are however, tentative and thoughtful. We have been informed that the Carvery will return and so will we, but in the meantime we'll be skipping our Sunday dinners here. Hopefully next time the new chef won't burn the Yorkshire Puddings
