The restaurant has received mixed reviews from guests, with some disappointed in the changes made to the menu and the dated room decor. However, other guests have raved about the delicious food, pleasant staff, and great value for money. The menu offers gluten-free options and Sunday lunch at the Cross Keys is particularly popular. The dining area is spacious and well-spaced, ensuring a safe dining experience. Overall, the restaurant seems to excel in food quality and service, despite some minor issues with decor and sticky furniture. Guests are eager to return and highly recommend dining here.

The dining area is very calming, with ample space between tables for privacy. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time with our family and will definitely return.

I was not staying at a hotel, as I live in Kelso. The Oak Room at the hotel typically hosts a craft fair every Saturday while the farmers' market takes place in the town square. I had forgotten to bring refreshments for myself. A very kind lady at the reception ensured that I was able to get some cold juice and later some coffee and water. It was a hot day and I could see how busy she was, but she went out of her way to help me. I am extremely grateful. Thank you, Ali @WischannArts Wee Smiles.

Use to love popping in here for a steak, always came with the full works, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the menu last week. Almost £40 for the steak we usually have, now served with a salad, no thanks. So we went with the pie instead. Its become REALLY EXPENSIVE. Really wasn't good at all, really dry with the worst chips and runny peas. Won't be returning. This place use to be good. Dunno what they are playing at but that's more customers you just lost!!!!

The food was lovely, we had pre ordered a seafood platter that the chef Paul cooked freshly for us from locally sourced fresh fish and it was beautiful. The desserts and drinks were also lovely. Excellent service from Paige who was very busy but always so helpful and efficient. The lady at reception was also very helpful when we booked the day before.

Had a substantial afternoon tea at a remarkable reasonable price. We could not eat all that was served and found the cakes and scones really good. The service was first class to make the experience enjoyable.
