The restaurant has received mixed reviews from guests, with some disappointed in the changes made to the menu and the dated room decor. However, other guests have raved about the delicious food, pleasant staff, and great value for money. The menu offers gluten-free options and Sunday lunch at the Cross Keys is particularly popular. The dining area is spacious and well-spaced, ensuring a safe dining experience. Overall, the restaurant seems to excel in food quality and service, despite some minor issues with decor and sticky furniture. Guests are eager to return and highly recommend dining here.

My wife and I ate at Saddlers last night and we were blown away with the quality of the food and the service that we received. In other restaurants when I've asked for the pie I usually received a bowl of casserole with a pastry lid stuck on the top, but this wasn't the case at Saddlers, my pie was a PROPER home made pie, which was cram packed with chicken that just melted in my mouth. My wife had the Corn Fed Chicken Breast and she reckoned it was was the best main course that she has ever had in a restaurant for quite some time. I finished my meal off with their home made Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream and my wife had the baked Cheesecake. Well done to the management and staff for looking after us, we can't wait to back agin in the future.

We visited Saddlers twice and in general ate very well. The prices charged offered good value. I very much enjoyed among other dishes the Auld Reekie Mushrooms and the Border lamb chops My husband did slightly less well, because he couldn’t (being gluten free) eat the herb crust on the lamb chops (willingly removed) which made the dish less flavoursome. The dining room is large and perhaps a little lacking in atmosphere.

The dining area is very calming, with ample space between tables for privacy. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time with our family and will definitely return.

I was not staying at a hotel, as I live in Kelso. The Oak Room at the hotel typically hosts a craft fair every Saturday while the farmers' market takes place in the town square. I had forgotten to bring refreshments for myself. A very kind lady at the reception ensured that I was able to get some cold juice and later some coffee and water. It was a hot day and I could see how busy she was, but she went out of her way to help me. I am extremely grateful. Thank you, Ali @WischannArts Wee Smiles.

Use to love popping in here for a steak, always came with the full works, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the menu last week. Almost £40 for the steak we usually have, now served with a salad, no thanks. So we went with the pie instead. Its become REALLY EXPENSIVE. Really wasn't good at all, really dry with the worst chips and runny peas. Won't be returning. This place use to be good. Dunno what they are playing at but that's more customers you just lost!!!!
