Guests have varying experiences at this harbor restaurant, ranging from positive to negative. A common theme is the high food prices and the fact that the establishment only accepts cash as payment, which inconveniences customers. Dishes like crab salad and scampi receive mixed reviews in terms of quality and value for money. Some visitors appreciate the French owner's commitment to offering a diverse seafood menu, while others criticize the service and food quality, reporting negative incidents like food poisoning. The outdoor dining area with a view of the harbor adds charm for some, but overall, the restaurant receives a mix of positive and negative feedback.

Was Anonym at L'escale a mag?
L'escale offers a fabulous dining experience, truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had with authentic French flair. I enjoyed fresh salmon and chips cooked to perfection, followed by a beautiful crepe. Two others chose the tuna and another had scampi, all of which were outstanding. The menu is exceptional, and I can’t wait to return. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about L'escale:
The fish and chips at L'escale were tasty, but quite pricey. Additionally, the man at the till was not very friendly. The rest of the menu might be worth exploring despite this. View all feedback.
Super pier views from picnic seating area outside. The two main people taking orders and serving behind the counter were sour, rude, both had very poor customer service skills. Food is over priced and the chips and pizza's are very poor we got plastic boxes of small crisps over fried bits called chips. Will avoid this place nxt time I'm in Schull. Reckon with a little effort this place could be a great!!
A regular visitor to schull. I have eaten in L’escale dozens of times because of its great location and convenience. Consistently I have personally observed and experienced on many occasions rude, obnoxious and unacceptable behaviour from the man at the till whom I believe is the owner. This destroys the customer experience in what is a quaint dining experience for families in a great location. My personal example this year was, no greeting, sullen demeanour, change being flung down on counter, and witnessing someone being sold wine without enough requested glasses and being verbally abused and sent elsewhere in the restaurant to the pancake counter to queue again. Generally food is pretty good if a little overpriced. Insisting on cash only particularly in a COVID environment is just crazy. Maybe a tax angle ? But sending people up town to queue at the only ATM is a very poor customer experience. Please L’Escale get a new front of house Manager and treat your many customers correctly.
The service is terible and the food is even worse I have been there many times. I have had food poising from burgers , rocks in pizza , hair in chips and my freinds have had alergic reactions to stuff that is not meant to be in the food.
Located in the lively Schull harbour, L'escale serves outstanding food. The fresh fish is expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The French owner takes a straightforward approach to his dishes, reflected throughout the menu. I highly recommend dining at L'escale.
