We visited on a Sunday, and on Sundays and Mondays, they only offer pizza. The pizza was delicious. From Tuesday onward, they serve tacos and have a regular menu for the rest of the week. Overall, I’d rate the food a 4, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 5.

If your looking for a rustic place that seems like a frontier bar in the modern era, then look no further then Scheller Playhouse. The short version: Average out of the way locals bar located in the middle of the crop fields. The long Version: What really caught my eye was the woodwork of the main bar. It was very interesting in the layout design and style. The builder added railroad spikes into the panel which gives it a connection to the train crossing that is next to the footprint of the building. Something else you don 't see everyday, is the large wood burning stove that sits in the middle of the front half. I was really enthralled by seeing it as it reminded of how a bar could have been laid out. I ate earlier and only ordered an appetizer that was average in flavor but, was fresh and hot outta the fryer. The not so great is Scheller Playhouse is a bar in the middle of nowhere Illinois (Southern Region). Like a lot of bars in the more rural areas of the state, the serving selection is low, meaning your beer is gonna come in a can or if your lucky the bartender may offer it to you in a bottle. Service could have been better then again it could have been worse. I would have given 3 stars on service if the bartender would have done 2 basic things, 1. A coaster on the bar for my drink. 2. Napkins for finger food. That 's basic bartending. Scheller Playhouse is a Locals Bar and you can 't fault an establishment that focuses their style to the local clientele. And speaking of the local clientele, I always get a giggle when I stop at these out of the way places, and I am certain before I even enter the building, somebody inside broadcast that, hey there 's a stranger getting ready to come in Seriously only in places like this do the 2 retired guys at the end of the know what I ordered before the bartender can walk the ticket back to the kitchen.
