Murray Circle - Sausalito
Murray Circle
Description
**A Mixed Bag at the Local Restaurant**
Nestled in scenic Fort Baker, the restaurant offers stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, drawing diners with its picturesque setting. While some guests rave about exceptional dishes like crabcakes and swordfish, others find the food mediocre, especially considering the hefty prices and additional charges for simple swaps. Service appears inconsistent, with some reporting slow responses and a lack of attentiveness. Patrons appreciate the friendly staff, yet lament the experience feels more like a hotel restaurant than a culinary destination. Despite its charm, charm, the overall dining experience leaves much to be desired.

Awful, I went on July 28th, 2022, expensive and awful food. I don't care about the price if it's good food, I would write a bad review if it was cheap food, it wasn't, it was barely edible. I had a salad, added protein/chicken tough, dry, barely edible. My friend ordered a burger, same thing. It's really hard to screw up those two dishes but they managed.
Went today for lunch. The main restaurant is closed for remodel . They serve in the bar, which is fine. The service was a bit slow, they seemed understaffed. We loved the crabcake and ribs. The vegetable risotto was under seasoned. Ordered truffle fries but got regular ones. No server around to ask to change it. The prices are a bit high . $20 for one small crab cake. But the worst was $35 corkage fee. That is extreme.
Breakfast was good but dinner was horrible. We stayed at the hotel for one night and sampled both. For breakfast we had the ham Benedict and the croque madame, both were tasty but nothing too fancy. Dinner was awful. Really some of the worst food I've had in a long time. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? My husband got the branzino which came with none of things advertised on the menu. The dish consisted of a gritty pea puree, lumpy mash potato and under seasoned fish. I ordered the vegetable gratin, which tasted like the water from boiled vegetables coated in a congealed white mush that was supposed to be cheesy? I've never had such flavorless Gruyère or maybe they forgot the Gruyère and it was just soggy breadcrumbs. The food was well presented but it was 99% presentation and 1% flavor. It tasted like it was made by someone who hates food but likes design. It reminded me of the bad contestants on masterchef who have googled French fine dining and tried to recreate it without tasting what they make. Also the portions were small and the prices ridiculous. We got the warm chocolate cake for dessert which was basically a chocolate lava cake without the lava. Everyone who watches cooking shows knows that making the lava requires a little bit of cooking skill, clearly this was above the chef. Our experience at the restaurant almost soured our whole stay. I think a unique hotel like this really deserves a better chef. I think the menu probably goes down well with people who like something to look/sound fancy, but it's not for people who actually like food.
The place is in a very quiet place, it is very picturesque and the price is a bit high but it is fine
Staff is kind but food is pretty mediocre, particularly given the prices. Also, would be more appropriate to mention that subbing fries for a salad that comes with a sandwich is a $5 fee on a $21 fried chicken sandwich. Be aware when tipping there’s a fee for the kitchen firing your order that’s separately charged. At this price point that kind of thing should be included, charging in this manner makes you feel nickel and dimed. Should have ordered in with door dash. What a shame.
