We had lunch here during market day in San Remo. It is located on a piazza at the bottom end of the market. We had lasagna that was awful, worse than hamburger helper. The only redeeming factor was that the red wine was reasonable and drinkable. So unless you are stopping here for only red wine, find somewhere else to eat.
Worst pizza in my entire life, ever. 7 hours later my stomach still aches. It's one thing to eat cold but the pate was as hard as iron. People go there because it is right next to the market. That's the only positive point. To be avoided at all costs.
No wonder they changed their name, this is probably the worst pizza I ever tested: cold and bland, the mushroom and artichoke where tasteless and the spicy oil was probably refilled with regular oil. Also we wew disturbed every 5 minutes by street vendors trying to sell fake bags. The only thing decent was the spritz. AVOID AT ALL COST
Firstly many thanks to previous contributor Jo K who identified the restaurant under a different name on TA following a recent name change to Ristorante Boccondivino I simply couldn't find it anywhere on TA under its new name. It is situated in a pleasant pedestrian square called Piazza Eroi, close to the cathedral possibly one of two/three seemingly similar restaurants. I have to admit that I didn't see some of these horror reviews until our return home. However on our first visit we had a nice table near the fountain we were quite early, 6pm and the initial serving staff didn't speak very good English but things improved when the a lad took over with good English. I have to say the wine and meals were good my partner who can be quite demanding food wise really enjoyed her pesto pasta and salad and I was quite happy with my chicken in breadcrumbs and chips. Admittedly the meals were a little slow coming and the lad could have done with some help with waiting on the customers. We had similarly good meals a couple of days later and simply from our personal experience we couldn't materially fault the place. I did have trouble working out the restaurants name as the bill was handwritten and possibly the new? name sign was obscured by a outside televison showing the world cup football. The restaurant is nicely situated and there is a good atmosphere sitting outside. You can only report a restaurant as you find it and may be the change of name means it has new owners and that may be a change for the better!
New restaurant name not set up yet up...be warned don't go! The pesto is out of a jar, the beans not fresh and potato cooked earlier and served cold, beyond disappointing for €11! The pizza was equally poor, I think the Base was even shop bought pre made. The owner serves ice with his unwashed hands and watches on whilst the one waiter tries his best to serve every table single handedly. As a result service is poor. There is no passion for the food or service here...avoid!
