Run by a very knowledgeable front of house couple who really know their food, wine and coffee! From outside this place doesn't look much but when you get into the old converted cellar which once belonged to the Medici family you will be impressed, it's a fabulous environment in which to dine. What AnneZ1948 doesn't like about Osteria Di San piero a sieve:
Unfortunately, what started out as a pleasant experience, given the charming locale, turned out to be a disaterous evening. From the heavy, not fresh fried artichokes to a sweet and uninteresting pepperonata to an unappetizing soup, we were disallusiined and deeply offended. I have lived in Mugello for 30 years. This was the worst meal I have ever had here. And, to boot, I believe we were overcharged for it. I will n... View all feedback.
Unfortunately the pictures from tripadvisor and the recommendations had nothing to do with reality during our dinner at this restaurant. We ordered a starter and a main course. They had forgotten to serve the starter first, so we received the main course at first . After claiming they explained that the starter would be better served after the main course…. Hilarious. The pasta btw was tasteless . After finishing we wanted to pay immediately. Once at the cash desk, the waitress told about the stress with the kitchen . Anyhow we paid and left . Probably the just changed the cook because the pictures posted on the web really had nothing to do with the reality . The food tasted exactly as it looked … awful. The waitresses were professional and doing their utmost to still let us feel comfortable. What a shame

A real surprise was to be given a coffee menu at the end which was explained in detail, I tried the Ethiopian style which had a salty taste and was very good indeed.
Prebooked this little restaurant as a party of 8. Very good atmosphere and very friendly waitress. We were recommended either the homemade Pumpkin or mixed Bean soup. So we secected these. They were tasty but only luke warm. This should have been a warning! The two different casseroles that were recommend were also very cold! Four of us sent them back. Soon they returned and this time they came back nice and hot. This is a restaurant. Why could they not get it right the first time. The wild boar and pork casseroles were now hot and tasty but just served with mashed potatoes. Presentation very poor. Not the standard one would expect from this type of place. Everything else was good but the food. A great shame. They just did not try enough or care I mean the chef. Should get rid of him/her. Get a good chef and the place would be outstanding!!

Very nice and freshly cooked meal. Our starters had a incredibly tasty tomato sauce. The bistecca was nice and the lasagne uncommon without meat but with a very nice taste. Even the wine by the glass was already very good. If you take a bottle of wine and don't want to finish it you can take it with you, very nice if you look at the big choice they have... If you ask for a coffee be ready to make a couple of choices as they think a good meal should be rounded up with a fitting and very good coffee :
