Ototo Sushi Co. - San Diego

Service was great, the food was delicious, and the price was just right. The indoor setting was peaceful and clean as well. Definitely a spot to visit and enjoy sushi with family and friends.

Our favorite restaurant for 28 years just priced us out: $24/roll. So sad. Because if that, today we tried Ototo. We arrived 10 minutes before 2:00 closing time. There were five tables of customers, and the server was beyond pleasant. I Asked him which he preferred between three rolls I couldn’t decide on. I went with his opinion, Picasso, and it was delicious. Will definitely return.

It was a very good experience the service was great the food was really good and I would definitely try the dragon roll taste great the chairs could be a little more comfortable but definitely recommend it and we'll go again

Great sushi rolls, ribs, and service. And even though the poke was a little plain and might look like a small portion size, it surprisingly contained more fish than most other places, which usually have more complicated bowls which neglect the actual poke.

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant since it opened years ago. However, something has changed since the end of 2021 and the start of 2022. This was our third disappointing dinner this year. We used to come every week, then every other week, but now we will not be returning. Tonight, the Udon soup was so salty that I couldn't even taste the broth. The Ototo sushi, which used to be 70% fish, now seems to only have 10% fish (see photos). It also now includes edible yellow paper, which I have never seen before. It seems like they are using this new technique to add more crab and less fish to their sushi rolls, but they haven't adjusted their prices despite inflation. Even when I ordered delivery through Uber Eats, a roll was missing. When I ordered online and picked it up myself, I found that another roll was missing once I checked inside my car. However, one thing that hasn't changed is the friendly waiters and waitresses who are always young and polite. I miss the days before COVID when the food and service were much better.
