This is a great spot to visit before a Padres game, whether you want to grab food to go or dine in. They even have two screens inside if you prefer to catch the game there. I ordered the gyro salad, and I was pleased to see that they offered greens as an option. However, I recommend asking for the dressing on the side, as my salad was a bit dry due to too much balsamic dressing. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Nick The Greek:
I used to love ordering from Nick the Greek when I lived in Santa Cruz, but never again. I recently ordered from this place and it was a complete disappointment. I paid $13.50 for a salad that consisted of just a few chunks of hard pita bread, a few spinach leaves, and only two pieces of chicken. It looked nothing like the picture on the menu—what a rip-off! My wife’s meal was hard and cold, and her salad had no dres... View all feedback.
The gyro pita was delicate and tasteful. do not miss the Greek riders. the molten feta makes the difference. delicious! more casual place to bite in the inner city of san diego.
I ordered the beef and lamb gyro pita and baklava for pickup. First of all, make sure there are NO MAJOR EVENTS downtown because of traffic, closed streets and finding parking is a hassle. Anyways, I go to pick up my order and it was ready. I walk out and realize they forgot my baklava but went back and got it. I get home to eat and realize there's no fries in the gyro. Now in the description says and photo shows that the gyro has fries inside it. No fries. Ugh...the disappointment. The meat was dry kind of salty and there was not enough Tzatziki sauce. The pita was okay ANNNNNND....the baklava wasn't all that! (Snaps fingers). It was $4.75 for one tiny piece!
Amazing portions. small complaint that there was not enough garlic sauce along with the food. The meat was tender, the food was plentiful, and the rice was flavorful. Reasonable prices. Would highly recommend.
This one star review is for this specific visit alone Ordered food at 8:15. Received food at 8:43. Individually, mine was about 4-5 minutes after my friends. Checked twice on food. First excuse was we have a lot of to go orders after we saw a family get their whole order all at once before us. Second time was when another family got their order. I asked Jeff where our food was, polity, and let him know that others were getting their food who ordered after us. His excuse was we bring food out based on the order and how much food is ordered . I brought 3 friends here, i live local and come here often, i let Jeff know we all ordered individually and asked why hasn 't Atleast one plate come out. He turned to another guy who always is here and he also looked away saying they are preparing the food and then looked away. Zero apology or acknowledgment. Nothing. They seemed bothered we were bothered our food came 30 minutes late. It was obvious they forgot about our order and just gave excuses. I used a $5 coupon from an email. I ordered the gyro plate with water only. My total was 17 or 18 bucks. He said he applied the discount. So Im curious how my total was still the same price as without the discount and he was insistent he applied it. Very disappointed
Tried this place, but it was really too salty otherwise it would have been delicious.. tried the pork belly gyro and tge chicken bowl. I hitch I liked that there wasn't too much rice and that it had salad and veggies... the chicken was also a bit dry but the pork souvlaki was not dry it was good.. would really like it if it was just a little less salty but otherwise the flavors are great!
