I haven't visited the restaurant yet, but I definitely want to try their vegan dishes from the Hillcrest Farmers Market, which takes place on Sundays from 9 AM to 2 PM. I had a delightful meal featuring a half-and-half portion of cocos and wattreis (saffron rice with carrots) alongside three vegan sides: crowned greens, biringanya (eggplant in spicy tomato sauce), and fried plantains. I love coming here for the buffet. They always have vegan options. Coconut lentils, eggplant stew, three types of rice. They have incredible collard greens that I could eat a pound of. Their gingerize drinks are fresh squeezed and delicious. Try mixing them!
The buffet does have meat; but, plenty of vegetarian options, too. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The flavors remind me of more 'authentic ' Indian food. This is a must if you are in the area. The buffet is a little pricey for a vegetarian. But, they are also serving meat, which cost more.
My favorite dish is the Nyoyo! It’s a delicious and hearty stew made with hominy, red beans, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, and a blend of spices. I also tried the curry chicken plate, which featured incredibly tender chicken, sautéed cabbage, and coconut rice. It was fantastic! The hibiscus ginger drink is both tasty and refreshing. This place is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic African cuisine!
Great 1st time experience with East African food. It was delicious. The server she was wonderful explained everything to me. I ended up getting the goat curry she recommended it and I never had goat before so I thought I'd try it. I also had the coconut rice and collard greens. She gave me samples of the turmeric ginger drink and the ginger ginger drink both fabulous I drank the turmeric ginger drink there and brought home a ginger drink as well as leftovers as you will see from the pictures there is plenty to go around
Only have been to their food cart in Ocean Beach on Wednesday’s. Wow, it is amazing, and they have the long line to prove it. Get the Samosas...you want the samosas.
