What a gem! The location is fantastic, and the happy hour menu is amazing—everything is simply delicious. The regular menu is also great and reasonably priced. Enrico and Sydney are wonderful servers who made our two visits even more enjoyable. Plus, it's dog-friendly! View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner doesn't like about Firefly At The Dana Mission Bay:
We decided to sit indoors to avoid both the sun and a large, noisy group. However, it turned out to be quite loud inside as well, with the blenders creating a jarring and irritating noise. We spent the weekend in Dana and ended our time with dinner and brunch at Firefly. Saturday evening's dinner on the terrace was wonderful; the atmosphere was pleasant, the food was delicious, and the live music added an extra touch! Sunday brunch was not as impressive, but they did offer an omelette bar and a variety of other food options.
We chose to sit indoors to avoid the sun and a large, noisy group outside. Unfortunately, it was quite loud inside as well. The mixers from the bar were particularly loud and somewhat irritating. However, the small plates and appetizers we tried were delicious and offered great value compared to the pricey entrees, which were quite expensive. We decided to share the sea bass priced at $26, and while it was tasty, it felt a bit steep compared to the other smaller dishes. The atmosphere seemed to reflect the busy pool scene. Overall, I was impressed by the food and decor, but not so much by the location and the bothersome bar noise.

I would never have chosen this part of the city or restaurant in a hotel for a date night, but I discovered that there was in the firefly in this night live music and had a chance. that was worth it. the atmosphere is beautiful, with the bay and boot in the background. it is a bit playful, as there can be hotel guests in the nearby pool, and children in vacation eating a late dinner, but that has added to the experience. the waiter was on the point and friendly. the live music was a bonus, I don't think it's always present. the menu was safe and predictable, but the version was perfect and tasty.
We had dinner here at the end of a business meeting. While the reviews were good, my entree of sea bass with the mushroom risotto was underwhelming. The risotto was light and flavorful but the sea bass was severely over cooked and had the texture of a swordfish and had minimal flavor. Sea bass is supposed to be moist and flaky. The worst sea bass dish ever. Then, we were informed the credit card machine broke and the waitress requested cash for our meal, directing me to an ATM in the hotel lobby. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the blood orange cheesecake was excellent. There are much better options elsewhere in San Diego.
