Encontro - San Diego

This is one of my daughter's favorite places to dine. She really enjoys the truffle flavors. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and the food is excellent. The chicken and desserts are both unique and delicious; my guest devoured everything, leaving only the bare bones! They also have outdoor seating with heaters, which we greatly appreciate. I think it would be fantastic to see some sort of glazed crispy pork belly on a stick added to the menu, as it would complement their flavor profiles nicely. We will definitely be back!

I absolutely adore this charming restaurant right by the university. It has a nice blend of indoor and outdoor vibes, with bar-style seating by the large windows. The food is fantastic—the salads are truly exceptional. I also tried the Lambburger, and it was delicious. I have to mention our server, Jen, who was wonderful on both visits. She's bubbly, kind, and very attentive. Our second visit (we went two times in two days) was largely memorable because of her. Overall, don't miss this place; it's truly great!

Happy Hour deserves a solid 5 stars for its extensive selection of beers and wines, even though there's no hard alcohol on the menu. I found that fine, but I know some might not be pleased with that option. The Elote Fries were fantastic—packed with flavor and perfectly crispy! However, the standout dish for me was the tuna tostadas with seaweed; they're also available as mini-tacos on the menu.

This place was absolutely amazing! The service was not perfect; we sat fast and our order was quickly taken, our server was also friendly, helpful and patient when we were not sure what we wanted. The interior ambience is wrench and intimate with colorful plants and views of the kitchen from the interior. This place really proves the atmosphere of the area. Now for the good stuff, the food: We had crispy roasted green beans, warm house bread, a bottle of coke and peach tea to begin. The green beans were light and crispy and the sauce they tasted amazing. The bread was served like a small warm cloud on a board. It was obviously right served when it was done and the difference was clear, this bread was delicious! For our most important entrees we had the Cardiff Crackburger with truffle friries and the Encontro Burger with chips. A bite of the Cardiff cracker and it is clear that it really lives up to the name. The meat was juicy, tender and endlessly tasteful. That was just one of the best burgers I ever had. The Encontro Burger was also amazing, the sauce was perfect balance and the Brioche Bungalow was airy and delicious. The meat on this burger was also perfectly cooked and oh so juicy! To finish the night, we enjoyed the ass cake... that was no joke! We ordered it after it was very recommended by our server, and it was so aesthetically served with delicious fruits decorating the dish. The cake itself was rich and sweet. The ice cream on top was the perfect compliment and it was a perfect end for a great night in the Encontro! I recommend this place to anyone looking for something delicious and the selection of the variety.

Amazing meal and exceptional service! The owner came out and personally welcomed us and recommended the fresh bread, which was warm and delicious! The chicken and waffles were perfect. Chicken was crispy and spicy and the waffles were hot and buttery! Definitely one to experience!
