The beef donair was fantastic and the owner kind and hospitable. The quality beef was rich and the wrap had a perfect balance of meat and salad. For gyros, this is THE spot in downtown SD View all feedback.
What Cora Moen doesn't like about Doner Mediterranean Grill:
The food was pretty good, the hummus, gyro, and hot sauces were great, Pita, tzatziki, and rice was just average I was disappointed that they were from falafel (especially if we were the only ones there, so it wasn't likely that they just ran out and it was listed as the best seller) and had no fries so that you could order?t a thunder box. The food is good, but I don't know how they say it's Halal while serving wine and beer!
Open late, really fresh, fast and healthy! You can watch them make your food what I like. Very funny and passionate employees. I have the Greek salad and it was so full. Its one of the few healthy choices late at night.
Don't answer the phone to order take out, 1 person in the shop and he seems mad at the world, and my gryos wrap had so many sauces on it you couldn't taste the flavor of the meat. Never again
This place is a block away from where I work in the gaslamp quarter. I was intrigued because all over Germany (where I grew up) you see doner kabob places. So I went here one day and they have these things on the menu called boxes. And what it is, is very very yummy french fries topped with either chicken, beef, gyro, or fried chicken. And these are little bitty servings. These are big hearty servings that are put into a box and they have to tape the box closed so that it doesn't come open because there's so much food inside. And then they also give you sauces. It comes with a hot sauce mix with tzatiki but I like to get the tahini sauce and mix it with tzatiki. Anyway, I've gone here several times and I know that I'm going to be going even more. My favorite way to have it is with the chicken and gyro mixed together. My least favorite was the fried chicken. It didn't have a good taste and it was very thin and kind of dry. This place is on point and the food is delicious.
