Contribute FeedbackMy wife I are back in San Casciano V.P. after a 4-year hiatus (Covid . We were still adjusting to the time and were searching for dinner well before the normal Italian dinner time. Looking through Trip Advisor it appeared that Antica Calcinaia was open. When we drove the short distance and walked towards the door, a lady approached us and said the restaurant did not open until 1900. We asked her if she knew of another place that would be open. She went inside and returned saying that they would be happy to serve us (two hours before openning time! . Maybe I should have led with this... the food and the service were FANTASTIC! We shared a cheese flan and a charcuterie board. Both were very delicious along with the homemade bread and olive oil (which was delicious as well . The chiati was very good. For our first course I had the pasta with boar and my wife has the rossoto. Both meals were fantastic. When we go out, we always ask each other if we would order it again? We both were positvie we would. We would like to thank Antica Calcinaia for being so hospitable to open early for us, giving us our own private venue. The staff were very nice and the boss thanked us over and over for coming and invited us back to eat on the terrace. WE WILL!
The waitress was super sweet and made our time pleasant! our eating was great and timely and overall we really enjoyed this meal!
Beautiful location on the large terrace with magnificent panoramic views over the Tuscan hills. good, even if not excellent eating (we had only pizza, though). nice, a free appetiser and glass prosecco has been offered. would recommend a simple dinner.
We wanted to try a restaurant near the farm. We went a little bit randomly by driving from reviews. . No choice was ever clearer! Happy!!! We took as a baccalà appetizer mantecato with humo of chickpeas and crisp egg with truffle and for second two beef tartare! everything really great and presented great! Seeing them through, they seemed really good even pizzas! We will definitely come back!
I returned Sunday evening to dinner with friends, great food but unlike previous times I noticed a remarkable shortage of staff. There was only one room manager who was responsible for both reception and booking and service, to manage at least seventy people. the manager was present but busy chatting with other guests or drinking in company, he forgot to bring us a drink despite the lady's request of help who ran here and there trying to please everyone. Surely, at least on weekends, I feel like saying that one person is not enough to give a good service. sin!
