Feedback
The restaurant has received mixed reviews, with some diners praising the romantic and quaint atmosphere, along with the outstanding seafood ravioli and good service. However, others were disappointed with the service, food quality, and the fixed Valentine's Day menu. The noise level was also mentioned as being too loud for easy conversation. The house-made meatballs and pasta dishes received positive feedback, with some calling it a perfect spot for an authentic northern Italian meal. Despite some shortcomings, the staff were described as friendly and accommodating, with delicious food served. Overall, opinions on the restaurant vary, with some planning to return and others swearing they won't be back.
The restaurant offers friendly and attentive service in a lovely corner location with views of cable cars and the Bay Bridge. We visited for my wife's birthday and had requested special arrangements, which they graciously fulfilled by seating us by a window with the stunning view. The hostess and waitress were both exceptional. The wine selection featured many local, lesser-known wineries, including our favorite from the Russian River Valley, Pellegrini (2016 unoaked chardonnay). Our beet salad and chickpea soup starters were delicious and perfectly prepared. For the main course, my wife enjoyed the wild mushroom pappardelle while I opted for the pork chop on white beans with chimichurri sauce, both impeccably cooked with delightful flavors. The roasted Brussels sprouts side was exceptional, among the best we've ever had. The tiramisu dessert was light and tasty, with a caramel sauce instead of chocolate. The overall dining experience was relaxed and personalized, with a full crowd by the time we left. We had a pleasant conversation with a couple who were regulars and praised the welcoming atmosphere and delectable cuisine. It was our first visit, but certainly not our last.
The Hostess was very nice and accommodating on when I needed to change my reservation for a later time. Our Waiter (Male) did not come to see if we needed anything after we got our food. We had to ask for bread and butter which took forever to get. I ordered the steak and ask for medium rare, it was more on the cooked side. Again, he never came to check if everything was okay. I wish we had the Lady server. I notice that she would from time to time check on her tables. She probably notice that we needed water and came to ask if we need a refill. After we finished our meal she came over to see if we needed dessert. Again, I hope the tip went to her rather then the Mail waiter we had.
This restaurant is small but cozy, perfect for a dinner outing. The food was fantastic, especially the mushroom pappardelle that I ordered - it was delicious. I would definitely return if I find myself back in San Francisco.
My wife's birthday dinner was a fantastic experience! The food was amazing and the service was excellent.
