Contribute FeedbackTen Ishi, a long-standing Japanese restaurant in the Fillmore area, has seen a decline in quality according to some diners. Complaints about Americanized menus, subpar food, and poor service have led to disappointment for some longtime customers. On the other hand, there are still positive reviews praising the fresh sushi, personalized dining experience at the sushi bar, and friendly staff. With a mix of both positive and negative feedback, it seems like Ten Ishi's reputation might be slipping in the crowded San Francisco Japanese food scene.
We love having Ten Ichi in the neighborhood! Having good sushi and great homemade ramen is perfect all year round. The family that owns it works there and puts their heart in all their food. They make homemade ramen to die for! Many special rolls with special sauces too. Hopefully they can stay as one of the oldest Fillmore St restaurants left.
We dined here for our anniversary. There are several selections on the menu. The tempura was light not oily. The oyaku domburi was tasty not sweet. The service was fast friendly.
This place is truly a neighborhood gem. The food is great and the people friendly. The decor is fairly simple, but that is part of what lends itself to the casual, friendly atmosphere. We love the fact that they actually put REAL crab in their California rolls and not the imitation crab. The gyoza are homemade. This is one of my favorite places to go for casual, reasonably priced sushi and Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend this place for a simple, but good meal.
We were celebrating a slow recovery from a stroke...Ten Ichi has always been our favorite and we've always had stellar service...NOT at all this time. Our waitress was incredibly inattentive, she never refilled our water or tea until we finally tracked her down after we were finished with our dinner. She then filled out water never brought our bill...I took my credit card up to another waiter and asked him to handle... We waited close to 40 minutes for 2 of our meals, Udon. Then oddly my husbands dinner didn't arrive until after we inquired twice...maybe another 30 minutes...for tempura! Our waitress never apologized! If I hadn't gone to Ten Ichi for the last 20 years with consistent excellent service and food, I'd never go again! I'll give them one more chance but I hope the young waitress is gone!
When we got there at 9:15 they said they were closed.
