What liksani doesn't like about Spiazzo Cafe:
Cute restaurant, pretty small so expect a wait if you’re there on Fri or Sat. Was disappointed that hostess told us we would have to wait for 30 minutes…then extended it by 20 minutes later…. The food is pretty good, standard italian fare with salads, soup, pasta, pizzas, fish/meat. : View all feedback.
Spiazzo is a favorite restaurant of ours. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent. Lately it seems to be attracting more families with small children. I don’t mean that as a criticism, but it does make for a lively atmosphere. A small nit: there is a charge for bread service. I do not recall that showing up on the menu, nor did our server disclose that information. It’s minor, but worth noting. Overall, though, Spiazzo is consistently reliable, and we will return often.
I have been going to this Ristorante for over 30 years. I have always rated it very well and did so again, but this time as a 4 rather than the customary 5. Service was rated 4 instead of 5 because the server we had, and had rated a 5 before, was simply overworked and slipped up on some relatively minor things. They need to hire her some help. Also, while generally quiet, there was a lady sitting behind us with a continuously very loud voice which was irritating. Nonetheless, we had a generally pleasant experience and will definitely return.
Spiazzo is usually EXCELLENT—G’ma from Lombardi said it was authentic, it was her fave Italian restaurant! We’ve been going since it opened decades ago, when the owner was hard at work making the place both special and homey.Last weekend, the food felt a bit over seasoned. More like too much tartness. Neither of us said anything, but when we compared notes, same.Hope the kitchen will dial back on the tomato simmering or just check those levels.Otherwise, Spiazzo was its usual lovely experience. Recommend.
The server was very helpful. Food came quickly and was excellent. I will return.
The host started the experience out with a friendly interaction. We really liked the host. It was also a beautiful day out and we were excited to enjoy some Italian cuisine. Now the review sadly is all negative. I ordered what was the worst and most gummy Chicken Parmesan I’ve ever had. The sauce was somewhere between the liquid from a canned of crushed tomatoes and ketchup. It was particularly sad as I haven’t had a Chicken Parmesan in awhile and I was so excited. The veggies that came with the dish were either over cooked or undercooked. All a bummer. The rosé my partner ordered was a house rosé that she said tasted like boxed wine reminiscent to her Franzia college days. She ordered spaghetti vongole and while the clams were well cleaned and cooked they didn’t taste fresh and the pasta itself had no flavor. She only ate two clams with the second one being to confirm that something wasn’t right with the first one. Left a good tip because the service was good, but the food was awful. Even the bread was stale. We will not return. We did let them know about the food, and they offered to give us more bad food.Update: my partner ended up being sick. So that’s a positive on the clams not being quite right.
