Sipz - San Andreas
Sipz
Description
Sipz Restaurant, once a legendary spot, seems to have lost its charm according to recent reviews. Customers have noted a lack of patrons, slow service, and excessive use of disposable items for dining in, which has left them disappointed. While some dishes like crab rangoons received praise, others like the barbecue chicken were criticized for being carelessly prepared. With mixed reviews on the food quality and service, some customers expressed doubts about returning to Sipz in the future. Despite some negative feedback, the restaurant still has its fans who appreciate the exclusively vegan/vegetarian menu and find the food to be delicious with excellent service. Some customers highlighted the delicious dishes they tried and the attentive staff, creating a positive dining experience. Despite concerns about disposable items for COVID-19 safety measures, these customers still plan to return to Sipz for its hearty vegan options.

I want to preface my review by saying the Clairmont location is 5 stars always great! I've been a customer since 2013 and this location was always hit or miss. Usually always ordered the same dishes and they would be either good or just meh. However thelast two times I've ordered from doordash the food came from this location and it's been really bad. I got pad Thai that has nosauce and barely any other ingredients, just noodles. My roommates food was the same. No sauce! No flavor! Reading some of theother reviews here and on Yelp and it's seems to be an ongoing thing. The owner must not read these because it seems nothing haschanged for the better. I wish you could pick what location your food comes from on doordash. If you want the good Sipz avoidthis location.
4 stars because of the great customer service even though the waiter was completely alone running the entire dining area. They were clearly understaffed and he was clearly struggling but still did a great job. We ordered some sushi rolls but they weremediocre. One set was too spicy, the other one just plain. We will perhaps give this place another chance in the future but asof now there are certainly better vegan places in San Diego.
I?m obsessed with their coconut cream cake. I discovered Sipz 7 months ago while visiting SD. I went back every day after for more cake. My family came to LA to see Chris Rock perform and planned to spend a week in CA. I insisted that we spend the restof the time SD because of Sipz (and I love this area). We ordered a whole coconut cream cake for my mom?s birthday and mybrother has already warned me that I?m only entitled to the half of the cake I paid for. The texture, the taste, the moistnessof the fresh cake is everything. I?ll be taking some cake back on the plane and exercising my willpower to save at least oneslice in the freezer to eat on my birthday in 3.5 weeks.
Sipz is a great little vegetarian restaurant in Downtown San Diego. It is small but worth the trip. The food is good and full of flavor. The rice however needed some work. The plates and utensils that are currently being used are throw away, dine outplates, due to the old Covid policy?s. Not a big deal, the food still tastes good. The restaurant could use some updating, it?sa bit run down. The bathroom could use some cleaning, the restaurant also. Lastly the customer service was on point. Veryfriendly and helpful staff. I would still recommend this restaurant for good vegetarian food. 4stars for the food.
