Feedback
Overall, the restaurant's food received mixed reviews. While some diners found the dishes to be decent or very good, others were highly disappointed by their experience. Issues with food quality, availability of certain dishes, and the cooking of meat were highlighted in several reviews. However, positive comments were also shared about the ambiance, service, and portion sizes. The restaurant's Turkish decorations and varied menu were praised by some customers. Inconsistencies in the food preparation and timing were noted as areas for improvement. Despite the mixed feedback, the restaurant seems to have potential for those looking for a quiet place with good service.
Not the best place to dine.. service needs to improve and the menu is just mediocre
The food was very good and the portions nicely sized for the price. We had the duck, chicken shish kebabs and the short ribs. The restaurant was quiet as well as family friendly. The Turkish decorations were very attractive.
Great food and excellent service, but the surprise was the excellent Turkish wines! We are wine snobs, and were way impressed.
Pera, located on Potrero Hill’s 18th Street “restaurant row”, is an always reliable source of delicious, wholesome, and inexpensive Mediterranean cuisine. My dinner companion and I were last there three years ago during another Golden State Warriors playoff series and it was time to return. Our meal started with a complimentary, fragrant and tasty loaf of home baked bread. We split both appetizers, including Piyaz $10), a type of fava bean salad, and Halikarnas $14), a delicious dish with fish, prawns, and scallops in a picante red sauce. Of the two, we both felt that the Halikarnas was a “we must try this again” selection. We also shared our main courses shown in photos): salmon filet $22), which was cooked to order, and the “Bird’s Nest” $18), a delicious vegetarian combination served in – you guessed it – noodles in the shape of a bird’s nest. Both entrees were excellent. Our waiter, Deniz, provided the excellent service we have always come to expect at Pera. Our total bill, including tax and tip, came to a reasonable $42 per person. Highly recommended!
