Was Tom Cox at Padrecito a mag?
I had the best chilaquilles in the world at this place, and the the tequila cocktail was a freaking religious experience. When I win the lottery and can afford to crash in a phone booth in San Francisco, I will eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Super nice staff, friendly, airy feel, reasonable pricing. What Buddy Volkman dislikes about Padrecito:
we went to Mother's Brunch. the service was pretty slow, but maybe they were overwhelmed. it's a big brunch day. the personal seemed to be angry. Maybe we were just ignored. churros from the hook good pancakes and chilaquiles: really good. I would go back. duck carnitas hash sounds better than it really is. the eggs and potato bits were good. the greens sucked up the whole salt sauce and exaggerated the entire dish. View all feedback.
I'm saddened to learn that this restaurant has shut down. They offered the most delicious pork belly tacos and guacamole, along with great cocktails. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very calming. I hope they open a new location soon so they can keep serving their fantastic food and drinks.
The restaurant offers mediocre food served in small portions at high prices. However, the atmosphere is pleasant. My partner and I stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday evening during a neighborhood stroll. We tried the Padrecito cocktail for $13, the La Copa Verde cocktail for $14, Cod tacos for $17, Enchiladas de Res for $21, and Rice for $7. While these prices are typical for San Francisco, the portion sizes left much to be desired. The rice, priced at $7, was shockingly small. The enchiladas were also lackluster and expensive at $21. The cocktails, particularly the La Copa Verde, were delicious and the music played was enjoyable, featuring hits from the 90s and 2000s by artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Destinys Child. Overall, for a midweek night out, the dining experience was average at best. I would not recommend dining here on a weekday, but it might be worth a visit for happy hour.
I had a fantastic time at this brunch spot in Cole Valley! I was promptly seated, even though it was a busy Saturday. The service was average, nothing exceptional. The food and drinks were outstanding. Both my friend and I ordered the sopes de machaca, with my friend choosing hers without eggs. The standout dish was definitely the polenta pancakes, which had a more substantial texture compared to regular buttermilk pancakes. They were a delightful and innovative take on a timeless favorite. I highly suggest giving them a try.
10/5 PANCAKES DE PLATANO!!! So fluffy and moist, yet still with the satisfying cornmeal texture. The caramel and mango/berry sauces on top are the perfect touch. Make sure you order this!!! The hash is also EXCELLENT a really delicious savory flavor. The potatoes are cooked perfectly. 5/5 service as well. Shoutout to Aziza a superstar! So friendly and had excellent recommendations. Last note: they have coffee but no espresso options, so you are free to order coffee from a nearby shop (there's one right next door) and bring it in if you'd like. But I loved their coffee and you get unlimited refills!!
Perhaps it was the universe aligning but our latest outing to Padrecito bordered on magical. Sure I found parking within minutes. Sure the weather was a perfect low 70's Sure it was busy with the hustle and bustle of cole valley but everyone was in a really chill vibe with plenty of people walking their fur friends. Sure we show up and there is an outdoor table for us immediately but.... Padrecito always has great homemade comfort food. Service was on point. Azizza was a fantastic help from recommendations to substituting things out....just PERFECT. Fantastic cocktails. My **** Mary was one of the best I have ever had....tasted like it was made from scratch..it was. Awesome homemade guac and addictively good homemade chips Great street tacos. Even delish veggie Huevos Rancheros stuffed with Kale. If you aint full by now....you must try the Churros....that coffee crema dipping sauce is insane. Highly recommend you check this place out. It has been a consistent restaurant in Cole Valley for years!
