Reviews - Outerlands
Reviews summary
Dining at this restaurant proved to be a mixed experience. The bread was a standout item, crunchy and moist with a variety of textures. However, some dishes like the burrata were deemed bland and in need of more flavor. Prices were a concern for some diners, with small portions and unexpected charges making the overall value questionable. On the positive side, cocktails were praised and the lamb shoulder was a highlight. The cauliflower soup received unanimous praise, as did the restaurant's attention to service and comfort. Despite some inconsistencies, Outerlands remains a popular choice for many, especially for breakfast and brunch.

As others say vegan options are a limited but I loved what I ordered and definitely recommend if you are around Ocean beach. You could choose from soup, the asparagus toast and the veggie grain bowl. I ordered the last two and wasn’t disappointed! Thegrain bowl was your basic bowl but really good and healthy and the asparagus toast had a delicious combination of flavours. Myfriend ordered the French toast (non vegan)... View all feedback.
What Sadie Welch dislikes about Outerlands:
The food is mostly very good. I enjoyed the cauliflower soup and the lamb. The desserts were a little disappointing in contrast to the stellar mains. Be warned some of the 2 tops are high tables with stools. Not very accessible. It took a bit of attitude to get a new table. We would have had to leave had they not given us a new spot. I'm glad we stayed. That lamb was superb. View all feedback.

Such a high quality breakfast spot. Feels hidden gem. Incredible combo of salty and sweet foods. And the extra kicker is such a friendly and responsive staff. Had a situation where they forgot a dessert on our order but after kindly asking them where thedessert was, they brought it out and comped it for us. Recommend the pulled pork sandwich, the Dutch pancake, and the stickybun.
Great meal and experience here. Tasty meal options and small but tasty beer list. Vegetarian options as well. Great service and relaxed vibe. Definitely recommend for a laid back lunch.
I had the French Toast and really enjoyed it. The flavors with the almond, vanilla, peaches and syrup paired so nicely with it. The only change I would make if I could would be more peaches. They really were the highlight of the dish and left me wantingmore of them. There was also some minor construction going on across the street that was a bit noisy. So if you are hoping tosit on the patio, keep that in mind, you may find inside nicer.
We went on a Saturday morning, just before 10 AM. Had to wait for about 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad. We both got the breakfast sandwich, 1 with pulled pork and the other with bacon, and shared the french toast. Cappuccino and hot cider for ourdrinks. We both enjoyed everything! Great staff, too.

Everything we tried was delicious. It has a very limited menu so probably would return during another season.
Unique and a delightful experience overall. The cocktails were great as well! Eagerly anticipating my next visit.
I appreciated the food at Outerlands. The service was satisfactory. Coming from the Midwest, I'm still adjusting to San Francisco's version of friendliness, which feels a bit less warm compared to what I'm used to. That said, the burrata was outstanding—truly the best I've ever tasted. The duck egg salad was fantastic, the drinks were enjoyable, and the bread was exceptional. One of our entrees was good while the other was just average, and the dessert didn't impress me either. Overall, I'd return, but I wouldn't choose it for a special occasion, as it felt quite casual and not quite the right atmosphere for celebrating a birthday.
I had visited before and wasn’t impressed, but this time it was excellent. Everything was just right.

We had brunch here after the sf half marathon. There was a 20 minute wait which wasn't bad at all given it must have been a busier than usual Sunday....
Delicious brunch in casual, beachy inside with wood. We came in on a foggy Sunday around 1 pm and got seated for 2 immediately inside. We ordered lattes...

Great dinner as always at Outerlands--terrirfic cocktails, inventive and delicious food, and the world's best bread and butter.
I was very excited to make my first visit to Outerlands. I had heard so many great things, but I was disappointed. While the server was charming and helpful, the food was just ok not one dish we ordered 2 appetizers and an entree each) seemed special and my $27 salmon entree had two TINY pieces of salmon on a pile of pretty tasteless black eyed peas. Maybe an off night but not inclined to return anytime soon.
