My wife and I came here the day before Valentine's Day and had a wonderful romantic meal with candlelight and gentle lighting. The food was amazing. I had the shrimps and Scallop Fucini and my wife had one of their vegetarian dishes. Both were perfectly prepared and delicious. This is a great romantic restaurant to take your girl! What Mohammed Ziemann dislikes about Old Venice Point Loma:
service was great and attentive, but it does not make for the bad eating. risotto was so boiled and inedible. osso was so. the woman had carbonara, it was more alfredo not carbonara and salty. probably the most dissatisfied and disappointed we were in a long time. decided are from the villagers, decisions are critical and that was not great. hopefully we have a lot of luck tomorrow. I'm not even gonna check the desse... View all feedback.
My wife and I came here the day before Valentine's Day and had a wonderfully romantic meal by candlelight and soft lighting. The food was amazing. I had the shrimp and scallop fettucini and my wife had one of their vegetarian dishes. Both were perfectly prepared and delicious. This is a great romantic restaurant to take your girl to!
Had heard great things about this restaurant. Made a reservation through Open Table, but when we got to the restaurant, they didn't have the reservation. Obviously, since I'm writing this review for Open Table, I clearly did have a reservation. Not sure why it didn't get transmitted to the restaurant. The host gave us a little bit of a hard time about it, but they did have a table available for us, so they sat us. However, the table was on the back enclosed patio, which wasn't terribly warm. I commented about the cool temperature, but the host said only that the room would eventually warm up....it did, but it was quite a bit later. Not the most welcoming response from the host. The metal chairs were not the most comfortable. We sat there for about 15 minutes before we had to flag someone down to notice us, bring us water and menus. After that, the service improved, but the waitress did bring my friend a third glass of wine when my friend had clearly declined a third glass of wine. She drank it, but didn't really want it and we got charged for it. The food was good though. Not sure if I would go back to dine again, but I might if I was seated in the more posh dining room with the padded bench seats and chairs.
I made a reservation for a large group via Open Table and and received both a confirmation and and a reminder. Imagine my surprise when I showed up with a job candidate for an interview dinner only to find there was no table for us. The did ultimately work it out. The food is good and this is a great place, but don't book via Open Table since they seem to have not turned off their Open Table account your booking won't go through.
Service was great and attentive but it doesn't make up for the bad food. Risotto was so under cooked and inedible. Osso was soso. The wife had carbonara, it was more Alfredo not carbonara and salty. Probably the most dissatisfied and disappointed we'vebeen in a long while. Being out of towners, decisions are critical and this was not a great one. Hopefully we have better lucktomorrow. I'm not even going to review the dessert. Tired of typing and still upset on how much money I just wasted.
5h3 food was excellent and the portions are generous. I got the Le Regina which is a seafood mix with black linguini. It was full of sea food and favorable. One of our dinnermates got thr Australian lamb which he said was excellently. Our waiterwasn't high on the personality scale, but he got our order out and correct.
