Taj Campton Place San Francisco
Description
The Taj Hotel restaurant offers amazing food with a concept that blends Indian spices with Californian ingredients. Dishes like the Black Cod, Scallop Dosa, and Lobster Curry were particularly delicious. While the food and surroundings were praised, some reviewers noted that the staff may try to upsell without specifying prices, which could make guests uncomfortable. However, overall, the service was excellent with attention to detail and flawless execution. The restaurant was recommended for special occasions, with one reviewer calling it one of the best dining experiences they've had in San Francisco. The unique flavors, visually appealing dishes, and exceptional quality made this restaurant stand out as a top dining destination.

Had dinner here on a Saturday and had an absolutely amazing experience. From the initial greeting to the entrance, everything was perfectly appointed with a lovely decor. Every course was very unique and had a ton of lovely Indian spice flavor. Presentation for every course was on point and the tasting menu is delicious and filling. The Tahitian vanilla milkshake was also the most amazing milkshake I have ever had in my life and I highly recommend it. It has such a fresh vanilla bean flavor and the sweetness was perfect. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a lovely dinner and I was even able to get reservations within a week which is quite rare for a 2 Michelin star restaurant.
Great service , very clean and accommodating. Great muffins. I would stay here again. Only negative was the room size which was a little cramped, and the view from our room was a stone wall, but I guess that's what you might expect in San Francisco with pretty closely situated buildings. Great shopping nearby and was convient to most places in town. Was greatful that no protesters at our hotel as there were many very loud protesters at other hotels in the area. The doormen were very helpful and there all hours of the night.
I sat at the bar for lunch. Bartender was prompt, knew his wines and kept on top of my water (pet peeve of mine, when missed). They have caviar service (reasonably priced) and a complete but simple lunch menu. I had the chicken club and it was perfect! Not overdressed, large slices of chicken breast, perfectly boiled eggs. and crip vegetables (lettuce and tomatoes). Side salad was a good size, but not overwhelming. I'm coming back tomorrow for the caviar!
We had a lovely meal here over a year ago. We had the tasting menu with a glass of champagne. The food was delicious and very inventive. We also ordered the black truffle dish that happened to be in season around that time. Overall, it was a great experience. The lobster dish was very tasty and it was my favorite. Reservations were not that hard to come by but the room was nonetheless full when we were there (pre-covid).
