Contribute FeedbackSutter Pub offers a mix of experiences. While some diners appreciate the atmosphere and friendly service, others find issues with slow service and inconsistent food quality. Highlights include creamy rice cakes and friendly servers, while the lack of liquor and less impressive dishes are notable drawbacks. Overall, it seems worth a visit for a decent meal or a casual dining experience, with a variety of drink options and British-themed menu items providing something for everyone. Regulars and visitors alike may find something to enjoy at this San Francisco spot.
Yesterday I had picked up the fish and chips late and the frits were still warm and edible. The plate came with three delectable pieces of batter fried fish, which I looked at after opening the container
Completely serviceable food. Friendly and hardworking staff. Genuine English pub feel. Had the BBQ Bourbon burger. Appreciated the crispy fries. Prices seem fair to boot. My server was smart enough to warn me that service might be a little slow. We 're a little backed up, so it might take a while. So when my food took 35 minutes to show up, I wasn 't annoyed at all. (Had a good book to bide my time. As long the slower service was an exception and not the rule, I 'll be going back to this spot.
We were going to have dinner here, but got tired, so order it to go. While waiting, sat at the bar and had a great cider in a very lively atmosphere. Food didn't take too long, so had to slam the rest of the cider and was on my way. For take out, all of the fried food was still crisp by the time we ate it which was surprising. Great fish and chips, not overly battered and full of flavor.
Good place to get some drinks, but my friends and I waited 45 minutes for food. The grilled salmon and fish n chips were pretty good, but the shepherds pie was below average. Filling was not really seasoned and the mashed potatoes texture looked powdered when picked up with a fork. I would come back to try other options though.
I got to experience the San Francisco late night pub life on Friday night. Had a taste for fish and chips but changed it to a salad. For a appetizer we got spinach and artichoke dip. The dip was a too watery and made it hard for the tortillas to grab it and its not the traditional melted cheese from being baked way. Just watery bland dollop of spinach and juice but I was hungry and kept it movin. My cobb salad however was very good! The ratio of ingredients compared to lettuce was perfect, refreshing and light. I got a peach Bellini for a drink and it was good as well. The atmosphere is kinda tight and snug. Not a lot of elbow room but it wasn 't crowded. Cleam and well lit with some fancy but simple decor in conjunction to British signatures. The staff was friendly and upbeat. Very good at pay attention to who wants it.
