The food was fantastic! Lovely atmosphere! only 2 other tables when we were there so noise couldn’t really be judged. Our waiter was super friendly, attentive but not too much. Definitely will go again when in SF! View all feedback.
What Liucija Orestas dislikes about 54 Mint:
that's our way out of the theater. there were five of us and none of our meals were good. two had the fish specialist who was dry. two had pastas and both were over salted and not very tasty, and the third had the calf salt imbocca, which was simply in order. also the weeping prices have increased. service was great and the atmosphere we love, but not enough to take into account the mediocre food. My favorite dish—the Trippa—did not disappoint! Pasta serving (cacio e pepe) was too small but excellent in flavor.
Great food, the beet salad appetizer was delicious. The cacio e pepe was one of the best I've ever had, creamy and rich and perfectly al dente. The waiter was just the right amount of attentive and when I asked about the ingredients in the cacio e pepe was excited to describe the recipe. The atmosphere is ok but not great. Distracting dance music, and more echoey than I like. When it's full I'm guessing it's too loud for a comfortable conversation, but I was there for a late brunch and it was not too loud.
Reasonable food. They were able to make a vegan pasta with mushrooms which wasn't bad (but the mushrooms were undercooked).
Love this place and so glad it’s still around. While great for pre-theater, I’d recommend this restaurant for any special occasion. The food is finely crafted Italian, the tables are nicely spread out, upstairs is elegant and downstairs seating is “cool”. The wine list is unique and very Italian which is hard to find in a city that rightfully celebrates California wines. Service is attentive and a throwback to time when customer service meant something. They also occasionally have a prix fix menu that is a relatively great value.
