What User doesn't like about Lobster Shanty:
The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and serves really hearty lobster. The flavor of the lobster itself was excellent, but the dish was a bit too heavy on the celery for my taste. The rolls and sauce were also noteworthy... View all feedback.
My fave local place! I could have but decided not to give a star less for waiting about 25 min to be seated... when it's busy just be prepared to wait it's worth! They have a little ground floor terrace when the weather is nice that's what you are going to wait for. I initially was not going to wait as I was not even noticed but then started to chat and everything was fine. Food came in good time my first choice of the Millionaire Burger (asked without bun) you can see how great it looked and it tasted just as well. The sweet potato fries was crispy and just as I like it. So I decided to do another visit and went for the Guiness Marinated Steak Tips again with sweet potatoes fries. Wow! Loved it and they made it how I like it so please don't judge the restaurant for the crispy outside of the steak: that's on me! The restroom is in ground level: no stairs but the hallway is a bit narrow therefore unsure if wheelchair can easily make it, but potentially good. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and remember the details of your order. Will be back for some salad and lobster roll; hardly can wait!
Really delicious lobster roll. Calamari and sweet potato fries were good as well. Corn was refreshing.
I recently enjoyed my second lobster roll, opting for the Connecticut style served warm with butter, and it was fantastic! The portion was generous, featuring perfectly cooked pieces of tender lobster. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. They are following proper safety measures, and the tables are well spaced under a tent on the patio. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Salem.
We ordered takeout (thanks, COVID), and wow, we've never had lobster rolls this amazing, especially as takeout! We chose the Connecticut style (warm lobster with plenty of butter), and the quality and quantity of the lobster was outstanding. The fresh lobsters were cooked to perfection. They gave us so much lobster that it barely fit on the roll, and there were large chunks of meat in each portion, including an entire claw piece! The clam chowder was hearty, thick, and incredibly flavorful, truly warming the soul. I highly recommend this place; it's definitely worth the wait. (We ordered online, and it was ready in an hour. The time provided for when our food would be ready was spot on.)
We visited this restaurant for a late lunch, and it was fantastic. The onion rings were the best we've ever had. The service was good; our waitress was friendly and attentive. The drinks were also excellent. I ordered the Connecticut-style lobster roll, and it was delicious—better than any lobster roll or dish I've tried in Maine (though I should note that I've only been to Maine once).
