Ike Box - Salem
Ike Box
Description
Housed in a handsome repurposed downtown building with murals and a ballroom, this café delivers well-made coffee, tasty pastries and satisfying breakfast sandwiches in a bright, walkable setting near the state capitol. Patrons praise the warm, local vibe and friendly staff, though service can lag at peak times and some items feel pricey. The large open hall is photogenic but echoes when crowded, and there have been occasional mishandlings of dietary requests. Still, it’s a charming stop for coffee and casual bites on a downtown stroll.

I didn't order any food, but the coffee is excellent. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in the Salem, Oregon area.
Pretty darn tasty breakfast sandwiches and pastries! Parking was difficult for a Saturday morning but worth the circling. We stopped by en route down the coast, and it had a local vibe with really cool old town theater decor. Service was a bit slow but we weren’t in a rush, just hungry.
Nice place to read or have a meeting while sipping some good coffee. Pesto turkey panini was delicious.
We attended the Pentacle Theatre USO fundraiser that staged their show at the IKE Box. We didn't eat or drink anything, we had already had dinner. We were comfortable in the theater area and enjoyed the windows and ambiance of the building. We could easily hear everything and it was great space for 120 people in rows of chairs. It's a good venue for that... especially if you gave lessons and needed a space for the students to show their skills. It had a great sense of community.
