Jack Ryans Irish Bar - Sale

On a return trip through Sale we stopped here and I ordered the portehouse steak. It was cooked exactly as I had asked and served with mushroom sauce that had real mushrooms in it. It was also served with a generous amount of sides - all for $31. My partner had the Irish Parma which was a good twist- we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be returning next time we are in Sale.

The food was ok, but there were so many issues. The main being that sides have to be purchased as an extra, from memory the accompanying steak fries were $6 to add, and you aren't left a choice otherwise you are served a plain steak, sauces also an extra couple of dollars. Not really appropriate for a small town pub, especially one that is only serving basic food

I used to love going here for lunch - but today was terrible! Ordered a beef schnitzel with veg and gravy and my friend ordered grilled fish and veges. Nearly 40 mins later were got our meals. The fish was all broken up and sans veges (although there was a small bundle of green beans that were almost too tough to eat - my friend was hungry!) When I asked the waitress said they classified beans as veges - so we ordered a side plate of veges - which took another 15 mins! (slow microwave???) My schnitzel was large with a generous portion of veg BUT steak was so tough I could barely cut it wit the knife provided and a large portion of it was left because it was also too tough to chew!! VERY disappointing!

Great service, efficient and friendly. Good selection on the menu. Very welcoming. Slightly better than a pub meal.

I have been to East Sale on and off for 7 - 8 years and have always gone back to the places that have satisfied..... Jack Ryan's is one of those places. The atmosphere on a Wednesday night is quiet, but the service is great.There is a nice separation between the bar and dining, which is good so you can concentrate on winding down, with food ... or with a drink.My meal took 15 mins, but cooked like I asked.Will make sure I come back.
