Great place right by the peir on St Simon's.. I recommend the frozen Miami Vice it was Amazing. My mom and I stopped in on the 4th very, very busy day, but we were seated immediately and our waitress was on point. She knew how to do her job in the service industry for sure. Super knowledgeable about the menu and food and very helpful as my mom twisted her knee before we walked in and she went and got my mom a bag of... View all feedback.
What D Jung doesn't like about Iguanas:
They forgot about me after I was seated. Finally a waitress that was walking by saw me sitting there for a while and asked if someone had helped me. I responded no and she took my order. They forgot about me after I was seated. Finally a waitress that was walking by saw me sitting there for a while and asked if someone had helped me. I responded no and she took my order. She, however, did not know the tequila the had at the bar. While I was fothere a four top was seated and served prior to me. I ordered the coconut shrimp because they should be butterflied and cleaned, and Don Julio on the rocks with little ice and an orange. I received tequila loaded with ice and a lime. I then tried the shrimp which tasted something from the local grocery store. Then I found the butter flyed coconut shrimp were not cleaned and shrimp feces was clearly present. See pictures of this mediocre tourist food. Maybe the free ice cream got them the good reviews. Won't go back or recommend.
So I’ve eaten at Iguanas quite a few times when visiting SSI. It’s honestly one of the better places down by the pier in my opinion. But, I will say the restaurant seemed kinda depressing. Like maybe Chef Ramsey could help them give the place a facelift. Iguanas is known for its fried shrimp and I always look forward to it. However, on this visit the shrimp was lackluster. It just seemed like they didn’t even try. And the fried shrimp appetizer was $12 and we received 7 literally seven shrimp. Don’t waste your money on that fried shrimp appetizer…it’s not worth it at all. Don’t care how famous that shrimp is supposed to be! A family member and I shared the grilled scallop platter which was quite a bit of food for around $27. It was quite tasty, but the hush puppies were lukewarm…seemed banked. Another family member ordered the wings and enjoyed them..said they tasted fresh and were hot. Went back another day and ordered fried clam strips basket. Now that was yum and you definitely get your money’s worth….easily shareable. Get the fried clam strips as an appetizer instead of those measly 7 fried shrimp. Service was excellent! Overall, I recommend Iguanas, just wishing they would put a little more pride and effort into the menu! Parking: Parking can be atrocious at certain times! Really just gotta toss the dice and hope you get lucky! Kid-friendliness: It’s pretty family friendly. Kids menu is standard fare and there’s free ice cream available after your meal.

Great food! We decided to do just appetizers. The appetizers were big and big portions. The staff were great. They treated you like a local.
Great service and great atmosphere. Very relaxing and enjoyable experience.
