Reviews - Java Moose

#23 - Sushi - Saint John, Cafés, Coffee

Reviews summary

Java Moose offers a variety of freshly roasted coffee, but it seems to lack quality in the steaming of milk for cappuccinos. The coffee shop has a warm and welcoming ambiance, but some patrons have had issues with renovations that removed seating. On the other hand, the unique chocolate and turtle coffee was a hit, and the friendly staff provide excellent customer service. For visitors to Saint John, stopping at Java Moose for delicious pastries, coffee, and food is highly recommended. Patrons appreciate the affordable prices, free wifi, and cozy seating, making it a favorite spot for many customers.

Was Herbert Paar at Java Moose a mag?

DW and I were on a cruise ship that stopped in St. John. We decided to go from the ship to the "reversing falls " view (our timing was great... worth seeing). We stopped by Java Moose to take a look on the route to Latte, then... sit back on the way and enjoy a fabulous gluten-free brownie. View all feedback.

What Brenna Stamm dislikes about Java Moose:

To a latte, but wait for 10 minutes. The employee made food for the person before me, and the owner was too busy with a few friends and their dog doing everything it seems. It won't be back. View all feedback.

I fondly recall my mother taking me to the market when I was a young child, and I have wonderful memories of those times. Back then, you could find real butter and so many other delightful items. It’s such a beautiful place to shop now, and I still love visiting the market.

The Saint John City Market holds the title of Canada's oldest continuously operated farmer's market, with a charter that dates back to 1785. However, there is nothing “old” about it. During my visit 13 years ago, I was impressed by how spotlessly clean the market was; everything gleamed—the food, the stalls, the floors, and even the vendors. I recall comparing it to grocery stores and pharmacies in Ontario at that time, and the market definitely came out on top.

There's nothing quite like it! We are fortunate to have a place that offers a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and prepared foods from around the globe. You can find just about anything here! The prices are fantastic, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm. Whether you're shopping or dining, it's a wonderful one-stop experience in Saint John!

Stopped in to grab some local beans on our way out of town. Wished we could have stayed and enjoyed a coffee here this place is really charming. The staff were helpful and prompt and the coffee and snack selection was bigger than most coffee roasters I’ve seen.We grabbed a small bag of their Bay of Fundy (medium roast) whole beans.Parking: Street parking (paid) is available but is very hard to come by. We circled the block several times before deciding to send one person in while the other circled the block once more.

This is a gem of a coffee shop! The vanilla latte is great, but I would also race on the service of the staff. They gave my family lots of great ideas on things to do in Saint John including Irving Family Park. They have patrons hide the Java Moose around the store so others can find him!

We originally just stopped by to grab a quick coffee to go, but ended up leaving with 3 bags of beans! I decided to try the maple coffee and it was absolutely delicious. Each bag of beans also came with a free coffee, which my partner used to sample another flavored brewed coffee (a coconut flavored one with a cooler name) and he enjoyed it more than he expected. The staff was incredibly friendly and informed us that they ship their beans outside of New Brunswick, which could be dangerous for our wallets! We are looking forward to trying out our new coffee at home and cannot wait to visit Java Moose again on our next trip to Saint John.

Java Moose is a place that holds a special place in my heart. It was my first job and my favorite spot in high school. Whenever I visit, it brings back memories of my childhood in New Brunswick. Even when I am far away, my older brother still makes sure I have a taste of home by sending me their delicious coffee beans.

I like to walk my dog and get coffee to-go at the same time. It's really hard to find businesses that allow pets inside. Java Moose is one of the few places that do— which I appreciate. Oh, and the coffee is good too!

Excellent coffee, service and atmosphere. Coffee snobbery with an East Coast flare. Well done. We stop by every time we are in town. Highly recommend the Speedball Nitro!!

Amazing iced coffee and granola bars!! Seriously, these delicious homemade style granola bars are huge and filling. The iced coffee comes in a super cool can/cup as well which I thought was a neat touch. Inside the cafe they sell Java Moose brand coffee pods, ground coffee bags and even stuff like coffee soap. Such a nice atmosphere and the service is extra friendly. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I were going for an early morning walk and Yes we needed our coffee. Walked by Java Moose looked in and read the hours sign it was closed for another half hour..... then... Not sure who the person was (May have been...an owner or manager) but with a welcoming smile on he opened the door and said COFFEE!!! Yes, we said... how soon do you open and with a warm heart felt grin he said come right in. The coffee was Huggable Indeed.. hugs Dawna and Jim from Fredericton.

Breaked in for a cup of coffee. I had the amazing chocolate and turtle coffee. What is better than coffee, caramel syrup, chocolate syrup and whipped cream? I can't think! It was delicious and not too sweet! The decor was funny, but welcoming!

Came here today while visiting Saint John. I strongly recommend stopping by here while in the old SJ Market. Food, pastries and coffee is amazing! A little pricy, but treat yourself and try it. You won’t regret!
