Went for a meal with friends so there were 8 of us. Excellent menu choices, beer was good as well. Portion sizes were big, be warned. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming, especially from the dogs who are laid back but like an ear flobbling. Service came with a smile and we felt that nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.
We did not stay in the hotel, we had a meal and drinks.I had completed the review from this perspective. Its a great pub but the staff did not seem to want a group (8 adults and 7 kids 10 15) in the pub.The beer was very good the Guinness was exceptional.I had a curry, I was disappointed the onion was not cooked through, it was more Spanish flavor.Others had nice food their gravy was very nice.It did put a dampener on the trip.
A warm welcome from landlady Rachel at this traditional Farndale pub. Well kept ales on tap and a decent Rose wine slaked a thirst on arrival followed by a plump Sirloin Steak and trimmings and a plate of crispy scampi to keep us fed. Excellent value for money and all the traditions of top class inn-keeping can be found here in the glorious setting that is Farndale.
From our arrival to leaving the welcome and service was great, really lovely and it’s dog friendly, the food was excellent and such good value. Game curry half and half, battered mushrooms were stunning real chips and nice garlic bread, jam sponge and custard , plum and almond frangipani with cream, I did wonder about telling you how lovely it was, incase you all decide to go, as sadly it was quiet, I just don’t understand why, as many of the pubs on the main rd were full, it is slightly off the main rd but only by 5 minutes, but it’s so worth a visit, it’s traditional pub fare, good portions and tasty, we will be back.
