The Derwent restaurant in Malton has garnered mixed reactions from diners, reflecting a stark contrast in experiences. While some patrons praised the friendly service and clean atmosphere, others lamented the subpar food quality, unseasoned dishes, and overcooked items. The restaurant's offerings appeared uninspired and lacking local flair, leaving guests disappointed, especially given Malton's culinary reputation. Additionally, some criticized the inconsistent service and cleanliness of the establishment. However, positive accounts highlighted enjoyable meals and accommodating staff, suggesting potential for improvement. Overall, the restaurant presents an experience that varies greatly, indicating the need for a thorough reevaluation of its menu and service standards.

If island has been crawling. on the plus side the staff was so nice and could not have done any more, the toilets were so clean and roch great (woman comment, but that was the highlight). the Sunday dinner was sad all from the...freezer and meat terrible. loads of extra veg, but all school dinner style. we did not expect much, but honestly it was so bad, even the children did not eat their food. the chips were still quite uncooked.

Eating here is a embarrassment to yorkshires food capital Sunday lunch a complete cabinet, veg overcooked, deep roasted kartoffels, gray meat. the derwent makes wetherspoons attraktiw. needs a deep cleaning in general and the lines need regular cleaning.

We stopped by for a quick bite and drink and were impressed by the friendly welcome from the staff. The food was tasty and served promptly. The restaurant had a clean and inviting atmosphere. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it. A perfect 10 out of 10.

The dining experience was enjoyable at this restaurant. I ordered the mixed grill and beef burger. The atmosphere was typical for a Friday evening at a pub. I appreciated that dogs were allowed to join. The bathrooms were very clean. The landlady, who I assume was the owner, was friendly when we visited on the 25th of February. The younger staff member she trained was polite. However, the servers could improve in their approach when delivering meals. They could benefit from being more friendly and informative when serving food. Overall, I was happy with my experience.
