Cajun Crawdads - Ruston
Cajun Crawdads
Description
A local seafood spot earns praise for huge, well-seasoned shellfish, honest pricing and prompt, personable service. The owner’s respectful, meat‑hook‑free handling keeps live crabs and crawfish lively and the place clean; cooked orders and reliable pickup are highlights. Minor issues include an occasional muddy taste, inconsistent seasoning, a margarine-like butter sauce and one report of an unexpected item in a takeout bag. Overall, highly recommended for crustacean lovers seeking fair value and attentive service.

Unlike some competitors who might take advantage of their customers when demand is high, this gentleman is honest and fair with his prices. The place is clean, and the crabs are lively and well cared for. He treats them with respect, unlike others who might mishandle them. Overall, he clearly values their well-being. I can't recommend this place enough!
The crawfish is good and quite large. It’s my second favorite option for crustaceans in the area. However, the butter sauce has a flavor reminiscent of pure margarine. I’m not sure if that’s common everywhere, but I do expect real butter when it’s labeled as such. I did notice that one batch was lacking in flavor, and there were a few occasions where the crawfish had an unpleasant muddy taste. Overall, it's not too bad.
I had my first experience dining here today, and the shrimp were amazing! They were enormous and cooked to perfection. The service was also excellent.
The seasoning was only on the outside, leaving the crawfish lacking in flavor. To make matters worse, they were served cold.
I likely won’t return to this restaurant. While I was eating, I reached into the bag and discovered something unexpected. Though I’m not blaming the establishment for it, I’ve never encountered anything like this before, and to be honest, it made me lose my appetite for the crawfish.
