Crystal Court - Rustenburg
Crystal Court
Description
The dining experience at this palace restaurant presents a captivating blend of ambiance and culinary offerings, though opinions are mixed. While the high tea boasts beautiful presentation and an enchanting pianist, its limited tea selection and flavors have left some patrons wanting more, especially in pastries. Breakfast experiences are similarly varied; though some guests rave about the extensive buffet and outdoor seating with stunning views, others found the service slow and the food underwhelming. Nonetheless, the attentive staff and thoughtful gestures, like surprise birthday treats, add a personal touch, making it a notable choice for special occasions in a picturesque setting.

High tea at the palace was a delightful experience! The staff was incredibly accommodating, and Betty and her colleagues truly made my wife's day. We were also captivated by the pianist, who played beautifully. Even though he had to leave, he took the time to show my son some tips on playing the piano. We are very grateful for all of you! Thank you! Service: Dine-in.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. There's a wide selection at the buffet, and the place is clean and well-organized. We had a wonderful dinner! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner.
The service was absolutely terrible. We've been waiting for 45 minutes for our wine, and there hasn’t been a word of apology or any sign of our food order.
The service was a bit slow, and the waitstaff occasionally forgot items. I noticed it was faster on weekdays. While breakfast was decent, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. They did offer oysters and champagne, which might appeal to some. A lovely touch was the pianist playing during breakfast, which added to the overall ambiance. I also experienced high tea, which looked impressive but didn’t taste as delightful as it appeared. From older reviews, it seems there used to be a wider selection of teas, but we only had about six options. Earlier patrons also mentioned a variety of colorful sugars, which we didn’t have. It feels like the standards have decreased over time. While everything looked beautiful and the pianist was a lovely addition, I expected a greater variety of pastries and cakes, especially given the palace setting. Overall, my breakfast experience was underwhelming, and I would likely choose elsewhere next time. The high tea's presentation was impressive, but the flavor didn’t match. I was really hoping for more from the pastries. The best part of high tea was the scones, which speaks volumes about the overall quality. I also ordered room service, opting for sticky toffee pudding with custard, and it was dreadful—tasting like burnt coffee. If my review were based solely on that dessert, I would give it a one-star rating. It was barely edible. I genuinely hope they don’t let their standards slip any further, as I found the experience to be merely satisfactory.
