The Woolpack - Rossendale
The Woolpack
Description
The Wool Pack Pub presents a mixed dining experience, characterized by fluctuating service and ambiance. Many patrons appreciate the delightful food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff, often highlighting the diverse menu and excellent customer service. However, some recent visitors have noted issues with management and a lack of professionalism, particularly concerning the landlady's behavior and the bar's environment, which can detract from family-friendly outings. While many enjoy the welcoming vibe and quality meals, the pub must address its inconsistencies to ensure every guest leaves satisfied and content. Overall, it's a place of potential, yet requires attention to detail in service.

Lovely local pub serving fresh cooked Food, separate gluten free menu with plenty of options for starters, mains, desserts, Knowledge staff and chef. The steak pie was excellent all the pizzas can be made gluten free. Lots of choice here.
The pub serves excellent food with a separate gluten-free menu that features a great selection, including some daily specials. The staff was well-informed and attentive. While it's best to make a reservation, they kindly accommodated our family of four on a weekday during the school holidays. The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent. Milly at the bar and Anton, the chef who personally delivered our meals, even offered recommendations for other places to check out in the area. I would definitely return if I'm in the vicinity!
I highly recommend The Woolpack in Haslingden! We visited today with our daughter, who has coeliac disease, and the gluten-free menu was fantastic. The chef even came over to discuss kid-friendly options with her. She had the choice of gluten-free chicken nuggets, sausages, or spaghetti bolognese. She chose the chicken nuggets and declared them the best she’s ever had (she polished them off before I could take a photo!). I tried the gluten-free cheese and onion pie, which was delicious! Dale enjoyed a roast (which can also be made gluten-free). For dessert, Naomi had gluten-free sticky toffee pudding, and it was amazing! The service was excellent as well; we were regularly checked on. Anyone with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance should definitely visit. I took pictures of the gluten-free menu options; there is also a main menu, but I didn’t capture that one.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. They took great care to ensure that their gluten-free options were prepared safely. The service was very polite and attentive. One standout aspect was that they didn’t charge extra for gluten-free dishes, unlike many other places. Their reasoning was that being gluten-free isn’t a choice, so there’s no reason to charge more. I found this to be a generous and refreshing approach, especially considering the higher costs typically associated with gluten-free food. I highly recommend this restaurant!
For our meal, we ordered two courses for two people, which included starters of garlic mushrooms and a full rack of BBQ ribs (gluten-free). We both enjoyed the roast beef for our Sunday lunch, and it was fantastic. Along with two alcoholic drinks, a Coke, and a coffee, our total came to £50. They also serve breakfast, so it's definitely worth checking out their menu on Facebook.
