What User doesn't like about Himalaya Rockdale:
Mixture of Indian and Pakistani and quite good. Service is a little slow but the food was hot and fresh. The restaurant is not licenced but a bottle shop is only a short walk. Overall cost was about $25 per head, so not too bad. View all feedback.
Most of the dishes appear to be of Indian origin, of the dishes I have tried, all are tasty, many come with richly flavoured sauces. Serving sizes are reasonable, but I would say prices are on the high side (but I find this is common with Indian food, maybe the ingredients are more expensive), and this place is in line with similar Indian cafes. Only eaten there mid week, was plenty of room but quiet atmosphere.
Not a bad place for a quick bite, food is good and reasonably priced, service is good. Have eaten take away from here a couple of times also. Nice change.
Midweek visits with a mix of ethnicity, Skip, Indian, Filo and Chinese, so no bias on food selection or location. I arrived a bit late and the meals had been ordered, I had not eaten here before but the group had used it prior for takeaway and gathos. I was advised there should be enough variety for 10 and we could always order more if required. The meals took a while to come out, but it was worth the wait, started with Tandoori Chicken, hot, spicy and tender, it surely set the scene for what was to come. We had a variety of meat and seafood mains, with naan bread, coconut and plain rice, more than enough to satisfy, we ordered a bit more bread to soak up the remainder of gravies left on the plates. Dessert was a must and topped off the night, sweet and luscious and the best surprise of all the Total bill for 10 $300. The only bummer for the night was the old, run down loos, smelly and not fit for purpose, a severe disappointment.
Recommended by an Indian friend, so had to try. Many people from sub continent in restaurant, so a good sign. Lamb korma and Malai kofta stand out dishes and definitely want to have again. Generous servings of rice to mop up lovely sauces. Palak paneer too oily (minor whinge). No corckage fee. Spacious restaurant with comfortable chairs. Will definitely go back when have craving for Pakistani/Indian food.
I eat here regularly, even bring my Indian friends. Food is great and authentic. I have always loved Indian food but hate eating it in western countries, they always modify the taste to meet westerners tastes. Himalaya doesn't, or at least very little. Vindaloo and Biriani are my favourites. Most everything is excellent.
